OK, folks - how many of you see 2012 as the Mayan 'End of Days', or etc. apocalyptic time? personally, i figure that if the worst happens, there ARE no preparations we can make anyway, so I'm still making my plans for 2013~~

The mayans saw the world going through several cycles, and december 21 2012 is the end of a cycle, not of the world. Obiously theories are plentyfull on how this cycle will end. Acording to Samael Au Weor, the cornerstone of the Gnosis, the mayans predicted we would end "By the fire and earthquakes", he made a whole doomsday prohpesy based on this and other texts in wich, apprently, a planet the size of Saturn called "Hercolbus" will pass near the earth, and it's magnetic and gravitational field will cause earthquakes and volcanoes everywhere, and most of humanity will die. Of cource, by the year 2000 that should already have happened, and clearly it didn't.... OR DID IT!?
Many people that suscribe to the "Nibiru" conspiracy theory say similar things.
Acording to Max Heindel our age will end drastically and terribly, posibly due to a third world war (Wich does not seem too far, considering the totalitarian agenda the US goverment has been pushing, and the tensions caused by it's illegal international policies) but also may be due to a natural disaster.
But what the mayans said wasn't that, nor the other. Not so long ago i atended a conference of a mayan spokeperson who was speaking of the 2012 thing to try and ease our fears. Acording this man, who called himself "Akta", the 2012 doomsday event already started 10 or 15 years ago (can't remember well), and right now we're about to end the cycle of the earth that will determine how our future age will be.
Acording to this man, the mayans built their calendars in acordinance to the stars and the energy that emanated from them, especially our sun. The earth's magnetic field modifies the trayectory of the energy, so it is recived diferently depending on how the magentic field is working atm. Now, supposedly due to the position of the earth within our galaxy we're about to recive a large and violent amount of comsic energy that will mess up the magnetic field of earth. Eventually it will come to stabilize, and it'll begin reciving the energy of the stars and planets in a diferent way. Because this energy is extremly influential on us, it'll determine the cource of our history. Hence why the calendar stops in 2012: the mayans didn't know how the energy would be after that, and had to wait untill that date to continue the calendar, and that is the end of our world/age/season/whatever.
Acording to Akta, also, how we think and act will also determine the shape of the magnetic field will stabilize once it does, hence out behaviour now will mark how the rest of the next age will look like.

Permalink Reply by Drakill Tannan on December 29, 2011 at 11:15am Regardless i plan on making a pancake breakfast decenber 22 2012. If anyone is in the city of Aguascalientes in Mexico at the time, you're invited ;)
Permalink Reply by Drakill Tannan on December 29, 2011 at 12:42pm I do too. I just don't think it's going to rain blood and fire. I don't even think it'll necesarily be a drastic change. It can be subtle, yet powerfull.

Permalink Reply by Phoenix Rising on December 30, 2011 at 2:18am I've read that there is a strong theory that we are in the midst of a pole reversal at the moment, which has been the basic source of the storms, tsunamis, weather changes/global warming, and earthquakes. That in itself seems to me to be a very plausible theory.
We're having weird weather here in North-Central IL in the US for this time of year. We have no snow yet, and it's been in the upper 40s F, which is WAAAAY above normal. Time will tell about our Jan and Feb weather - but it's definitely a different type of winter! i do tend to think that we're just in a portion of one of the 'larger' weather cycles of the Earth, however. It's not unprecedented - just 'new' to us~

Permalink Reply by Phoenix Rising on December 30, 2011 at 10:20am Yup! LOL!! and it's still here~~ And on a more sober note, remember the Heaven's Gate people? Extremes of blind stupidity on both ends of the scale, IMO. Ah well - I sometimes console myself with the Beatitudes from the Bible - nowhere does it say the STUPID shall inherit ANYTHING! I have a serious issue with willful stupidity, when there are so many resources for education available! I've said for years the you can educate ignorance, but there's no cure for stupidity but a quick, merciful bullet!! (BEFORE they breed!!)
And yes, I DO have an 'attitude' about willful stupidity! I think that alone causes more heartache and dissonance in the Universe than any directed malice that's working in the world!
As far as I am concerned, all I can say that life as we know it will change. However no one knows what that entails. I am taking a vacation day though.
Permalink Reply by Phoenix Rising on December 30, 2011 at 2:26am I often wonder if the 'change' is a personal change, encouraged by the publicity surrounding the Mayan prophecy. After all - change is the only constant in the Multiverse, and is often an uneasy process, at best. All of the furor surrounding the 2012 Solstice reminds me of the 'Millennial Fevers' of the end of the 990s and the end of the 1990s. Many of the same things were forecast and preached then, with what results we have seen - LOL! Neither end of a millennium was the 'End of the World' - and i doubt 2012 will be, either.
On the other hand, perhaps humanity WILL become more 'aware' of (on several levels) and attentive to the interconnectedness of life - ALL life - in the Multiverse.

Permalink Reply by Phoenix Rising on December 30, 2011 at 10:31am I agree, Carolyn. I too, in my own way, am a counterbalance to the fear and apocalyptic visions. As the vast majority of Mankind thinks nothing of or about Dec 21, 2012, I think the focused and directed WILL of those of us who are Working for the optimal benefits to ALL will outweigh the fear and superstition of the vocal few.
