OK, folks - how many of you see 2012 as the Mayan 'End of Days', or etc. apocalyptic time? personally, i figure that if the worst happens, there ARE no preparations we can make anyway, so I'm still making my plans for 2013~~

Permalink Reply by Phoenix Rising on December 30, 2011 at 10:44am I have a dear friend who simply calls herself a 'Light-worker' who believes there will be a quantum leap in awareness of all species in the Multiverse on the coming Solstice. She sees the Mayan words of the 'Dark Rift' section of the prophecy as indicative of a huge electromagnetic 'pulse' which will bring this to pass for those who are already 'aware' enough to deal with the disorientation and disorder which will result. Part of her worldview on this event also includes geophysical manifestations of disruption such as earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions from the physical effects on the Earth of the electromagnetic pulse. I don't entirely ascribe to her theory, as it also includes the descent to Earth of the 'Ascended Masters' and Spirit Guides to lead us all to peaceful coexistence, but I do see possibilities in it~
Truth is, we won't know until it happens, just as in predicting what lies beyond the Veil of physical death.

Permalink Reply by Phoenix Rising on December 30, 2011 at 5:26pm Yes, I do agree. My main objection to the 'Lightworkers' theories is that I don't believe that there are any 'Ascended Masters' who will come and 'save us from ourselves', so to speak. I believe we incarnate with the ability to handle our own issues and our own psychic maturation, without the overlord-ship of any other Beings who will 'control' our species 'for it's own good'. I guess I just don't see any need for 'intermediaries' between us and our Deities, Whom we are intrinsically a part of, as They are a part of us~~
I think that in a way, it's a 'cop-out' to rely on something other than the Essence of Deity Within to 'fix' our social problems, as a species. It goes back to the Rede, for me. Following the Rede gives us Absolute Freedom within Absolute Responsibility. For me, that forbids a reliance on some ethereal 'Ascended Masters' to take care of things when I screw up. And, by extension, when humanity screws up, it's up to US to solve the problems we've created!

Permalink Reply by Phoenix Rising on December 30, 2011 at 11:08pm YES!! For so many people, it's a HUGE revelation and relief to them to find that out! That's one of the quarrels I have with organized Christian religious denominations. People are taught to blame the Devil, Nature, or themselves, and beg forgiveness and grovel below a Transcendent Deity who seems to have arbitrarily stacked the deck against His creation! They're taught, at BEST, to "Let go and let God", which is a pretty poor outlook on life, to my mind! Growing up being aught that one is a totally unworthy piece of crap, unless and until one totally submits all rational faculties to a Priest or Preacher, who interprets the mind of God to them - where does this teach ANYONE personal responsibility?
Permalink Reply by Sparrow on December 31, 2011 at 1:32am This is why in part My Co-Host of My Radio Show Kevin Baird
Refers to Christianity, respectfully as an entry Level spirituality, one that is more concerned with rules and answers being handed to you rather than you exploring and progressing.
Permalink Reply by Phoenix Rising on December 31, 2011 at 7:01am Sparrow, I like that assessment of your co-hosts'! 'Entry level spirituality' has a nice ring to it - LOL!. That applies very nicely to the organized Christian Denominations. You might be interested in a side discussion Drakill and I were having on the thread: 'All the Wrong Reasons'~~
Permalink Reply by Heidi Bots on December 31, 2011 at 9:50am I totally agree with Drakill Tannan. The Mayans worked in cycles, not linear time lines. I don't mean to be rude, but that's a think commonly seen in Christianity. Since they live in so much fear, especially of the end, a lot of people are freaking out over nothing. In 2012, my theory and others, with proof from the Mayan Calendar, is that we will enter the age of Aquarius and leave Pisces and no, Aquarius hasn't passed into our time yet. There is supposed to be a major enlightenment in humanity from several astrological sources, but people are still really unsure what's going to happen exactly.
I'm not very good yet with Astrology, but from what I gather, there really is going to be revolution in humanity. That's the number one factor that never stops popping up. What's funny in a way is that the band, The 5th Dimension, did a song called, "Age of Aquarius", back in 1967 and it seems to be talking exactly about it.
"Harmony and understanding
Sympathy and trust abounding
No more falsehoods or derisions
Golden living dreams of visions
Mystic crystal revelation
And the mind's true liberation
Aquarius! Aquarius!
When the moon is in the Seventh House
And Jupiter aligns with Mars
Then peace will guide the planets
And love will steer the stars"
Supposedly, this is an astrological reference. And looking at "When the moon is in the Seventh House, And Jupiter aligns with Mars", I wouldn't doubt it at all. So 2012, I'm going to be standing outside celebrating the coming of a new age.
As for the horrific natural disasters predictions.. Don't those happen every year and people make these stupidly exaggerated predictions and stuff it with bias or misleading information, then the religiously scared (yes I said that right) freak out that their time is coming and that it's a sign of god and it will wipe humanity, only to cause more public uproar when it happens, but only hits a small area? Also, who else remember 1999? This is so Pisces. I can't believe I'm going to die on Dec. 20th, 2012. If we do then, oh well right? Really sad, but at least we would all go together. And Gate Gate (gah-tae gah-tae) starts playing in my head. However, I can see myself turning 21 the November before that, then on the night of the solstice (2012, 21st) with a bottle of sweet red wine in one hand, my boyfriend's hand in the other, and us dancing all night till we drop. And of course, a lovely powerful Yule ritual.
So, who else will be dancing that night? XD
Permalink Reply by Phoenix Rising on December 31, 2011 at 11:15am Oh yes - dancing indeed! You bring up a good point about the changing of the Zodiacal Age - and also abuot the fact that the Mayan calendars are all about cycles! I saw a cartoon a while back that made me LMAO!! It was two Mayans looking at the circular stone calendar, and one telling the other - "This is as far as I have room to go..." It's just as likely as not that that was indeed the case, and they knew that the cycles would repeat~~
Permalink Reply by Heidi Bots on December 31, 2011 at 4:22pm I think I've seen that one! And the other guy in the corner was like, "That will freak somebody out". LOVED it! And thank you for the compliment. :3
Permalink Reply by Heidi Bots on December 31, 2011 at 4:26pm I know right? lol But yeah, the only thing I'm worried about IS the other hysterical people. So many people down here really do believe the world is going to end, I live in AR. But I'll be moving to California more than likely in six months and people are a heck lot more open there. Of course, who's to say some crazy bible thumping homicidal maniac doesn't live in Padestro CA?
Permalink Reply by Phoenix Rising on January 2, 2012 at 10:21am As far as the 'End of the World as We know it' scenario, when I run into 'true believers' in that theory, I simply encourage them to 'prepare' in sustainable ways, like stockpiling things they can and will USE, no matter what happens - LOL! Keep your job, keep your house, but if you feel the need, close your bank accounts and buy seeds and water and food and books, and etc. If they're 'Raptured', no harm done, and if they're not, they have their assets in things they will still be able to use~~ I don't even bother with the 'crazies' who believe if they send their dollars to the 'TV Messiah' they will be 'saved' - LOL!! they deserve whatever happens! and who knows - they may prove to be RIGHT! LOLOL!! If so, I most certainly won't be among their numbers - LOLOL!!
There ARE ways I would not care to spend an eternity, and dealing with 'Bible-thumpers' is one of them!!!
