BASIC INSTRUCTIONS FOR NING

These are basic instructions for using and working NING

Sign up at

Click on sign up in the right hand corner.

Create your profile and then hit the join button.

Once you hit (join) it takes you to WSI main page.

On this page you now see an orange box (you can edit your page and add things from here).

To fix your profile page:
Click on customize page in the top center of the Welcome Page.

You can scroll thru the themes and when you find the one you like click on the button underneath the theme you like. If you know CSS you enter the CSS on the bottom half of the theme page.

You can also select background image from your computer to be your back ground to do this:
Click the all options tab about ¼ of the way down the page. Click on body image to select a picture from your computer to be your Background. To change the header picture you click on header image and to change the side picture select side image.

You can change colors by selecting the colors on the frame you wish to change.

Fonts can also be changed
(The area under color in the all options tab).
Select the font you wish to have from the fonts section.

Chat feature:
There is a feature at the bottom of your browser you can chat with members who are online. To pop this chat box out of the web page click on Witch School chat then the second button on the chat box on the top right hand corner. The last button on the upper corner is your online and offline feature for chat. The first button is to collapse chat.

To add pictures to your ning page:
Click on My Page in the box at in the upper right hand corner once you are at your page you click on add pictures on the left hand side of your page.

When the add photo box appears (uses java) to upload pictures you can select multiple pics by holding the Ctrl button and clicking the picture to upload. Once you have all the pics you want loaded (only 100 at a time can be uploaded) you drag the pics over then click next.

The next screen is where you title and describe your pictures. Example I uploaded some of my business pics and wanted the description and the tags to be the same on all pictures. To make the descriptions and the tags to be the same on at the top of your pictures to upload you will notice three lines TITLE, DESCRIPTION AND TAGS. Then click apply to all pictures below (Warning though if you enter text into the title line in this grouping you will make the titles to all the pics the same. You must individually enter the text next to the pictures, unless you want them to be the same for all pics you selected).

To enter the different descriptions and tags enter them beside each picture, this will allow everyone to know what the picture is and their descriptions please add these to your pictures and videos.
When finished click upload and wait until it is finished before doing anything.

To add a video from your page click on add video. Enter the title and description. These are moderated so please be patient as they are approved or disapproved.
Or you can use the simple up loader.

When you enter a blog or comment on pages it automatically sets you as follow the topic. To turn this off go to the end of the topic page and click stop following this topic or comment. This cuts down on tons of email as each person makes a comment or post it sends you an email.
