Vampire/Pagan/Occult Community News Notice:

At 2 PM ET Saturday, January 14, 2012 retired law enforcement officer and 'occult crimes expert' Don Rimer was removed from life support at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital in Virginia Beach, VA after suffering a massive stroke resulting from complications removing blood clots which presented after a recent back surgery. As of this morning (Sunday, January 15, 2012) doctors are expecting him to pass at some point during the day. Despite the serious differences the vampire, pagan, and occult communities have with some of Don Rimer's beliefs and professional practices, please remain respectful of his family and loved ones during this difficult time. When more information becomes available we'll provide an update. Thank you!

May he find the truth in his next incarnation, May the punishment for his lies be balanced and Merciful, as it is a part of his own path

so mote it be.

I'm sure he'll learn his lesson once he passes through purgatory.

Just because he didn't agree with our religion does'nt mean he his going to hell, or whatever purgatory or whatever catholics believe in.

Come on you guys, you don't know if he was was a good man or not, maybe he was good to his family, and wife, and friends, but to wish or judge and think he is going to some kind of hell or have a bad next life, ???????????

It is not up to us what people's lessons are, or to think we know what they are. blessed be

Well, in the not-so-popular but probablt more real christianity, EVERYONE goes to purgatory. It's a place to learn to reject what was harmfull in your life. So yeah, he will learn his lesson in pugratory. Least anyone's perfect, we all will.

I agree exactly Rachael That is why I said his path , Balance and Mercy .

I make no mention of vengance or purgatory.

I simply stated what we believe Balance and lessons learned.

I never mentioned vengance or punishment, did i?
I meant what i wrote. He'll learn. That is what it is for.

The concept is similar to summerland (Acording to the sources i read about summerland) wich is a place where you contemplate and learn of your mistakes, and rest.

In christian teology there are only 2 diferences: 1) They separate the learning and rest things. First you learn, then you move elsewhere and rest. 2) You have to live the things you did wrong, that caused you pain and harm, because only by feeling you can understand why exactly it was wrong, and it'll stop as soon as you reject them.

It's not really a punishment.

Death can bring out funny emotions sometimes I guess.

We can assume to know what happens after death, and every religion has there own beliefs. (and every person for that matter).

but to think that one way is the true and right way is pretty rigid thinking.
The christians are not the only right way or the absolute truth on anything, if you choose to belief what they teach, than fine, it becomes your truth.

Everyone is here for a purpose, how do you know that what he was doing was his purpose, and his will. The God and Goddess are not going to make everyone think the same, act the same, belief the same, it would be a boring world, and their needs to be balance.

So if his role in this lifetime was to take an adversary stance or outlook, then he did his purpose and his will. "Do thy will, and let no man say nay"

By taking his stance and what he believed in is not negative, And by being that way he has made others stand up and disagree and stand up for what they believe in.

If you do not have anyone disagreeing with you and nothing to stand up for it would be a pretty gloomy existence.

So if to him, and his beliefs, he was acting in a postive manner, and therefor not doing anything wrong or negative.

And if you belief in purgatory that's kool, but it is your belief, and your religion's belief---not the only true and right way. blessed be

Heh. Naturally it's just a theory, and my personal belif.
As always i could be entirely wrong. To each his own!

As a disclaimer, i'm aware all i say may be complete bull**, if this forum allowed signatures i'd had it written there so people would see it in every post... it just gets tiresome to keep mentioning it. And makes me look insecure.

Would it surprise you to know that I've stood in circle with Don Rimer before? Yes, he had attended (at least one year, although he might have been at others after I moved from the area from what I've heard) an open Samhain ritual at Mount Trashmore in Virginia Beach. He was respectful, polite, and a far cry from the actual protestors that were at the events some years or even some of the misbehaving self-proclaimed pagans.

Yes, sometimes some of the things he said at some groups he spoke to could be taken in a negative way. In his view, Wicca was very different from "harmful occult practices." Given some of what occurred in the Hampton Roads area during the time he was around, I can't blame him for being disgusted by some of what he saw and wanting to put a stop to honest-to-goodness occult-themed crime. (If you're curious, look up the news articles about victims of pagan/occult abuse, assault, or murder like Jonathan Barron, Taylor Behl, or the multiple child victims of Jon C. Bush.)

Was he the perfect spokesperson for paganism? Of course not. On the other hand, there were many who were far, far worse than him in the world. To me, the loss of a life--any life--is not a time to start arguing where we feel by our theology that the spirit of the deceased should go. This is especially true for those who don't know the whole story.

If this note is actually true (and there's no obit for him in the paper at present), then my condolences are with his family during this difficult time.

Update:

Don Rimer passed this morning, Saturday, January 21, 2012 at approximately 10:00 AM ET
