Hi all!

Some of you here will probably remember me but I haven't been on in ages!

Anyway, due to overworking myself and also experimenting with other structures and courses elsewhere, I ended up stopping the course I was taking through Witch School, Living the Wiccan Life. From memory I was up to Lesson 18. Since then I have done a lot of experimentation and found a structure I am quite happy with.

Would the mentors here recommend that I continue with the course, however adapt it to suit my needs? For example, I have a circle casting and ritual structure adapted from Scott Cunningham's Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner which I am more than happy with.

I also found that the course was taking up a lot of my time - it suggested that I created my inner stillness, meditated, did daily devotions, did pathworkings, did chakra exercises for a minimum of 30 minutes per day etc, and I found it was really leaving me with no time for anything else. Does anyone have any advice in regards to this?

As I said, I think I am up to Lesson 18 and am strongly considering continuing with the course despite my long absence. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Blessings,

Orion

I would say go ahead and complete the course. Be able to answer the exam questions about it and use what you can and discard anything that is not in line with your true path. I understand the frustration of not being able to follow the exercises as directed but I believe while we wish to have one foot firmly in the mundane and the other in the spiritual while balancing ourselves, it simply isn't realistic. Sometimes we have to concentrate on the mundane in order to continue to have the resources to pursue our spiritual beliefs. Others we must concentrate on the spiritual for what ever that personal reason might be.
Merry Meet, Orion!
I am a solitary practitioner primarily but I am also a member of 2nd Degree Correllian clergy. I began my studies with Scott Cunningham's books over twenty years ago. Though I am 2nd Degree Correllian clergy, I have created my own structure for my private rituals and practices, parts of which include the Correllian Tradition's teachings, Cunningham's Standing Stones Book of Shadows, teachings from the Native American Medicine Wheel, and excerpts from other books of shadows. I have my own personal Sea Witch Tradition which I am writing as well.
As a member of the Correllian Tradition's clergy, it is important to keep current with the ritual workings of the Tradition in the event I can attend a Correllian ritual and/or are asked to perform a ritual or ceremony.
How much you wish to apply the Correllian Teachings to your practices really depends upon how far you wish to go in the Tradition. If you choose to remain solitary, then it is entirely up to you how much Correllian teaching you wish to employ;".. take what you want, leave the rest behind." If you aspire to clergy, study diligently beginning with the First degree course.
You didn't mention if you were aspiring to clergy so I suggest you begin by asking yourself about that. Don't overwhelm yourself. As to finishing the course 'Living the Wiccan Life', all education is valuable. Whether you choose to employ the all of what you learn, parts of what you learn, or none of it, is totally up to you and your aspirations. However, the inner work and exercises are very important. How can a witch perform ritual or magick without this training? Perhaps you need to slow down and be more patient with yourself in this. Adapt these practices to your life instead of adapting your life to the practices.
I hope this helps.
These are my own personal opinions and experiences.

Merry Meet Again Orion,

You'll fall away from Wicca again and again and hopefully always return to it if you are a true believer. You'll also fall away from practice and that too is natural. We all can't be 100 percent devoted to our studies and practices.

The Wiccan life is not meant to be a chore, I personally have little time for ritual so what I do are daily rituals in the shower.
Have a look at this list of spells you should perform daily just to keep your life from being messed up by outside forces. It only takes minutes a day.
