Raising of the Djed
In ancient Egypt, the Djed was considered to be the backbone of the god Osiris.
After Osiris was slain by his older brother Seth, an Acacia tree grew where the god Osiris was buried.
Osiris wife, the goddess Isis, and his son Horus, later carved the Djed pillar or Tree of Life out of the Acacia tree.
From then on, the Djed pillar represented the resurrected god Osiris, whose consciousness was kept alive in his descendants.
Gathering the Nectar of Life
During the Raising of the Djed ceremony the descendants of the god Osiris honored his self-sacrifice.
By aligning their consciousness with that of the god Osiris they try to resurrect Osiris from the dead.
The ritual involved the taming of the inner serpents to align the microcosmos with the macrocosmos.
