Five thousand years ago? Hm...
interesting
This is a good question actually. I think you are not so much asking for the meaning of Easter but, are referring to the way the ancients couldn't just go to the corner market but, relied on finding their own natural food sources and the importance of seasonal changes. Your question then if I'm right is, does this meaning still hold true for us today?
The Spring Equinox meant winter was over and the sun gave them light and warmed the earth, crops could be sown, food sources were replenished, chickens began to lay and sit on their nests, the meat that they relied on to sustain them were repopulating and so on.
There are many that this still has important meaning to at this time of year such as the farmer who raises their own food or sells to the market. Then, there are those who are horrified by it so, it is a personal thing really.
Either way, Easter still means renewal.
