We are seeing the Witches of Eastwick coming to television. It will be a double edged sword, as they will be seeking Magical Realism, but at the same time they will be shown as devil inspired powers.
Hm, no sense of realism in that article. But I do suppose 'tis the season to be witchy. I have to admit I never did watch Charmed, so I'm not sure what a show like this would do for me, if anything at all. Watching a television series simply for seductive, or what I'm told is supposed to be seductive women with witch-like powers, yeah, I don't know if that appeals to me. And while I remember the original film with Jack Nicholson, I'm not so sure I wish to tune in to this show. Not that having a male cast equivalent would be great, as I remember with the film The Covenant, a teen flick released a few years ago that in my opinion bombed as well. One of these days we might just get something magically entertaining, like Sam Neil's portrayal of Merlin in the made for television two part movie. I suppose only time may tell.
Other mentions are Avatar, based around the Nickelodeon children's cartoon which I've watched in its entirety. Good show, but will M. Night mess it up?
Stargate Universe? Enjoyed the original film and sat through a great deal of SG-1, and bypassed most of Atlantis. Let's see what they have in store here.
Ugh. Just from the description in the article, this one won't be taking up any space on my DVR. :^p I didn't care for the original movie that much, so I don't see this being any better. Besides, Witches of Eastwick ala Desperate Housewives??? That's bad enough but then to throw the whole "witches are evil and its all from the devil" BS in. *rolling eyes*
Is there not an original thought left in theheads of these television/movie makers/producers? Everything seems to be a remake of an old movie or we have snarked on the idea from British television (LOL).
while it is true that these women are not true spell casters, they do become infernal pawns. The only comment I have on infernals is ,there are very few ways to banish the creatures that would grant such powers if you accept thier gifts and use them. The key to getting rid of infernals is not to summon them in the first place! If you do by accident which is not hard given the right circumstances, show them no fear and use your banishing at the waxing moon so it grows in strength, and banish them again at the wanning moon to wash them away! Even as Night kind I do not willing seek them out, they do not have powers worth haveing! Oh yes and if you still have trouble banishing them, call on the power of a protection god (which ever one you rever most) add that into your banishing. But true lies aside, I did love the film, Jack Nicolson was a very good devil.
