Once we declare ourselves as Wiccan we usually look for  a Goddess to focus our attention during worship, ritual and meditation. But really how do you see her, how would you describe her to fellow Wiccans, and others in general?

This is how I see my beloved Goddess:

"She is at one and the same time, Creator, destroyer and Preserver of the Universe.

She is infinite bliss trampling time under foot in the dance of eternal creation.

She ruthlessly destroys the demons of my lower nature while protecting me.-her devotee from spiritual ignorance.

She is my Cosmic Mother/Father. Both Virgin and Whore.

Both Lover and Nemesis.

She sustains and protects me, fullfilling my desires and bestowing the ultimate blessing of devine ecstacy and liberation".

How do you see her?

I see the Goddess as the Feminine aspect of the Divine - the Void from which all Life came into existence. She is whole unto Herself. She is the green earth and the shining stars at night; the trickling of a forest stream and the cry of a hawk as it soars through the clear open skies. She is Love and Life, Beauty and Mirth. She is also Destruction, Death, the Darkness of the night which contrasts the Light of the Sun - the God Who is Her Consort and Lover, the Gatekeeper between this world and the next. She is the Divine Feminine which resides within us all, male and female alike.

She is known to us by many names: Frejya, Aradia, Athena, Kali, Baba Yaga, Kuan Yin, the Morrighan - the list goes on. To some She is simply the Great Goddess; She Who has existed since before the dawn of all that is and has been. She is the Primevil Womb of the Earth and the Universe. She is the Spark which alit the Flame of Life.
Thank You Orion,

So beautifully perceived and explained.

May your Goddess Bless You and All You Love. x
Thank you :)
When I think of my Goddess, I see Her physically and symbolically.

Physically, I see a tall woman with long, curly earth-brown hair, ocean-blue eyes, and a wide, welcoming smile. She stands with arms raised and palms to the sky, and She simply seems to radiate benevolence and friendliness.

Symbolically, when I think of my Goddess, I see many things. I see a dark-brown feathered hawk swooping low across an ocean, the rain dripping from the leaves and branches of a weeping willow, light gray clouds brewing a thunderstorm rolling across the sky, the sun shining down upon a forest of greens and reds and oranges.

I see my Goddess as Everything and Nothing. Beginning and End. Horizon and Eternity. We are born to Her, and to Her we shall return.

Blessed Be,
~Beyond
May your Goddess embrace you in her loving arms. So beautifully written, Beyond. x
And you as well. Thank you, and blessed be!

I'm a hard polytheist so for me there are many goddess and gods instead of an all might all encompassing goddess who is all things.
A valid and interesting view, Auberon, thank you. Do you ever find that one calls out to you in particular? Or do you find yourself in a place where you feel her/them most? x

I see her in shades of Blue and green and tattered in brown, I see her in space as she sways around , teeter and totters as if in time to some music where we cannot find is rime. I see here always giving for better or for worst, I see her as the place I love this place we call Earth BB.

Thank you Fantum. Beautiful verse with amazing pictures. Thank you for posting. x
WELCOME BB
Several years ago I took a group of ladies to Greece in search of the Goddess. As preparation for our trip, we studied most of the Greek Goddesses. Having always considered Aphrodite as sort of frivilous, vindictive and slutty, Her narcisism was the cause of the Trojan War, I had not included Aphrodite in our study. We had a wonderful Greek tour guide whom I immediately pegged as a modern day personification of Goddess Hecate, guardian of travelers.
During the trip, I mentioned to our guide that I identified with Athena, Goddess of Wisdom, to which our guide laughed and immediately shot back that I was definitely Aphrodite. I wasn't happy about this comparison!
After returning home and researching pre 'transfer of power' Aphrodite, I found a totally different Goddess than the one I had been resisting. My only knowledge of Her had been clouded by the Patriarchal veil. Author, Jean Shinoda Bolen introduced me to an Aphrodite that inspires poetry, creativity, persuasive speech and symbolizes the transformative and creative power of love. "Aphrodite values emotional experience with others more than either independence from or permanent bonds to others. The desire to know and be known is what Aphrodite generates. When Aphrodite influences a relationship, Her effect is not limited to the romantic or sexual. Platonic love, soul connection, deep friendship and empathic understanding are all expressions of Her love. Aphrodite consciousness is present in all creative work. The Aphrodite influence is an intense involvement between an artist and his/her work, from which something new emerges."
I like this Aphrodite! What an injustice I had done Her, basing my assumptions on male influenced literature, dogma and cultural bias. Because of my guide's insight, I dug deeper into my own awareness and found an Aphrodite that I am proud to be associated with. I also love the big hair! Blessed Be!!! Gaia'l
