Once we declare ourselves as Wiccan we usually look for  a Goddess to focus our attention during worship, ritual and meditation. But really how do you see her, how would you describe her to fellow Wiccans, and others in general?

This is how I see my beloved Goddess:

"She is at one and the same time, Creator, destroyer and Preserver of the Universe.

She is infinite bliss trampling time under foot in the dance of eternal creation.

She ruthlessly destroys the demons of my lower nature while protecting me.-her devotee from spiritual ignorance.

She is my Cosmic Mother/Father. Both Virgin and Whore.

Both Lover and Nemesis.

She sustains and protects me, fullfilling my desires and bestowing the ultimate blessing of devine ecstacy and liberation".

How do you see her?

What a wonderful story and what a wonderful journey you have taken to find your Goddess. The influence of Christianity on how we see our Goddess and any strong women should not be overlooked. It is deeply entrenched in our psyche that we don't realise we are making these assumptions, and we don't realise that what we read is coloured by the patriarchal What a lesson for us all. Thank you.

Below is the usual image we see of Aphrodite;

Below is a Rococo vision of Aphrodite painted by Sir William Russell Flint in 1960. He was 80 yrs old at the time.

Only through the eyes of man , indeed thanks for sharing these paintings BB
