IS IT WITCH REALLYCRAFT OR JUST A WORD THROWN IN BY THE PERPETRATOR/MEDIA ROUTINELY AND CARELESSLY, THUS GIVING GENUINE WITCHES BAD NAME

It reminds me of the terrible images in Europe in certain times of the old paintings of witches throwing babies into a fire or letting the devil eat them,in the 1980's there was a terrible Dark cloud over witches when some believed that Satanists were abducting children.
All were False.
Things are getting better this ridiculous story will pass.
The Church is worried that Witches are gaining popularity. They should be Worried, We as Witches have more to Offer.The Satanists and Christians tend to "stretch the truth" Historically and the word Witch as a practice gets thrown into the mix.
But to Me A Witch is a Wise Human.
My friend Ranjit they will always propagate against us.

in middle ages church was vert strong, much like the way islam is strong in islam republics. so whosoveris the priest pope cardinal bishop etc had power to classify people as good christians and bad ones. witch to be abhored is there in bible atleast from James I version from 1611. they have consistently burnt all rich inherting ladies, ladies who had spurned sexual advances and like as witches. this includes USA till early twentieth century. when countries have repealed laws of witch burning, paganism has come out. but church is worried still for the same reasons they have given propaganda for years. that is ability of divination. as per bilble jusus the son of god died for us and once we believe in jesus we will be saved. so to practice divination one must enter church
wicca believes that every induvidual is capable of divination which is true. true the extent varies, but once one becomes able to practice divination, then a lot of things can be done which others cannot do or percive because they have not gone beyond the earthly planes. so they are afraid of "witches" so anything as this called witch craft to taint people who can do better and be better human beings because of divination.

the church is making more moves to convert Witches in America I have noticed an increase of churches "Reaching "out to Witches, they are taking a friendlier approach (Such as the Catholic publication mentioned in another thread) But make no mistake they are nervous.
Wicca or Witchcraft offers as you say "Divination"
The church is not interested in individuals Knowing their own true power or potential.

wants to convert everybody.
as far as the religion goes they want zombies, who follow them blindly. they resent any one who is not, relgion wse, zombies. so the present move of coverting wicca
they are the chief people responsible for giving witches bad name

There is no bad name ,That is how we should see it but much to My great disappointment,
Even one of my old best friends the other night mentioned ,he Said "The Witch word is a word that you should walk away from"
I said "Why" it means "Wise One" Why would I step away from wisdom."
" Why don't you Walk Away from an authoritarian God that supports Slavery "(Leviticus 16-20 and beyond in the Christian Bible) Leave behind your oppressive deity and step into a place of Knowledge and Beauty instead of a place of tyranny and pain and non expression and non creativity and never do any questioning and all of the things that I hate HOW DARE YOU SUGGEST THAT I step away from My Goddess that never brought anything but the Light of life to the world ,the Mother ,creator your God has been used as an excuse to Incarcerate,Manipulate and preach the hate"
It is important for me to state that as A Witch it is not my job to convert or to preach I was simply defending my position.
So we debated it has been a funny week.
I am Sorry Ranjit I am Angrier than normal I am going to sleep or so I thought anyway .

There are indeed nut cakes all around the world, and people who do such things, now need a excuse for their behavior, so they blame the church, witches, or many others things, why cant people except responsibility for their actions? and of course the media will blow everything thing out for perspective , its called ratings, the more papers they sale,the more money and of course no matter who it hurts,and if it hurts,everyone will read it.

in english dictionary there is a word paraiah, which means lowy person it can also be used as one using lowly methods and not to be touched in bussiness sense. there is also a community in india by the same name that was considered lowly till abot 60-80 years ago. but since we have independence they are equal to anybody. and it is an offence to call somebody a paraiah in our country. about 30 years ago one of the ministers used the word in a derogatory sense and full paraiah community objected. minister apologised but still had to go.
Witchcraft and wicca are not accorded the same status, this because there are no wiccans. all those who are wiccans have wicca as their secondary religion like me, including my witchschool mentor, who is also a hindu brahmin, and from the same caste as me. so free use of witchcraft in derogatory sense goes on here. as a matter of fact when i say hinduism is a pagan religion here it upsets many people, as paganism means lesser god in english dictionary. the world has not got over defintion of witches as evil and capable of barbaric acts. even the piece of news in aol, says, since witches cannot be burnt, they have to be won over. this clearly implyies that they still believe witches have to be burnt at stake, but the law of the land no longer permit, they have to be won over. why i put up this as a news item is to bring awareness so that wiccans can raise one voice. they have to object to such ideas wherever it occurs in the world. then and only then mindset will change and witches will not be found to be abnormal people doing abnormal things. the person doing it will be called abnormal, not a witch.

i agree with you that since middle ages people have become so prejudiced that this term has crept int dictionary and everyday use. everyday we are confronted with barbaric acts that much we are in agreement. i furthered your example to point out that it happens everywhere. but what i mean to say is that we have to raise voices and not leave it to people to take responsibility for their acts, either in the barbaric acts or press using terms that offend a particular sect/religion. what works is that people must raise voices. that is why i have put this in the discussion
a simple example, a few days ago mr bentley, gov, made an offending speech, and would have gotten away with it but people objected. he backtracked, and i bet you that this a blessing in disguise. he will be forced to take side of nonchristians every time he has to choose between christian and non-christian. that is what i want to point out, that by remaing passive nothing is achieved, must do actively in the requirement of the situation. what to do please do not ask, but by bearing in mind this word has crept in you will be able use in other situations and will be able to put in your 2 penny bit to further the cause.
further i request you to please not get personal. we certainly had some misunderstanding elsewhere, but i have put it behind me.

TRUST ME, Ranjit is very reasonable both he and I have experienced unreasonable witches on other sites.
And I Sparrow completely agree with the point you made on this thread.
Do not feel Unwelcome here Ruthann, I understand that when you first Arrived it was during an Argument but for the most part all is well and we all disagree from time to time. Debate is Healthy.
I understand that you feel a bit defensive I was thrown off of another site for defending myself .

actually it is a one prargraph news in the inside page, that too a news digest. but you are right. media loves to hutr anybody and everybody, just for ratings and sale of news papers. if you ask them they say they are doing thier jobs. it is not for them to worry, as most news do hurt somebody or the other
wicca is not a religion recognised in india, so the word 'witchcraft' does not hurt religious sentiments of any one here, so they freely use the word. here the newspapers cannot publish material to offeng religois or caste sentiments of people, but the word witchcraft is not offensive as regards to religion yet
