I mentioned this on Facebook, and would love your opinion.
So I am becoming aware of a growing divide in the Pagan community, and it is generational. The Baby Boomers are seeking legacy, especially political, and a orthodoxy to their faith. The deeply believe that their ideas of tradition must be preserved. Generation X is also heading towards creating a greater orthodoxy and many are questioning who is and isn't a Pagan, as a mainstay. The Millennial Generation cares less about politics, rejects the orthodoxy, and are seeking lifestyle changes that will improve their lives. A clash will occur, but I think at the end of this, the community will drift towards the youth, no matter what anyone thinks.

We are on the internet and it is hard to tell when someone is joking or not, with things being taken out of context, I constantly find myself rereading what i put and thinking oh sweet mother of god i did'nt mean that, that way, i hope the aren't offended.:/

I or you can say one thing that in voice is sensible but if typed people will miss the subtleties or even humor.
Permalink Reply by Phoenix Rising on November 30, 2011 at 12:22am Yes, I agree. We as a species are designed for a full spectrum of involvement in our communication - eye contact, body language, tone of voice, and even scent, at times. Written communication can be easily misinterpreted~

I was initially not interested in coming to this forum, because of numerous less-than-optimal experiences on other forums, where mudslinging and back-biting was the order of the day. I was very pleasantly surprised to find wonderful, considerate, knowledgeable people here, with an actual SENSE OF HUMOR!!! the diversity of backgrounds is a super bonus, as well~
