Well, since no one has replied, I'll reply even though I'm not a parent of an Autistic child (yet). My mom's not pagan, but I have Asperger's Syndrome and I'm Wiccan. I can help you if you need help knowing what goes on in the minds of Autistic people. I know that we all think differently, but I can understand most Autistic people pretty well.
Thank you so much! My son is seven. He can speak though mostly echolia. He answers Yes/No questions. Any insight into his world would be execellent.
While my child isn't autistic, he has Epilepsy and is developmentally disabled. He is very interested in the ways of the Wicca. However, I'm quite new at this stuff, so I can use all of the feedback I can get. My local mentor/teacher is continuously looking for things I can do to help hm along. The most recent idea is for me to read my son a book on Greek Gods and Goddesses. It has a lot of pictures and is very entertaining. Another challenge we have had with his learning is getting my son to practice meditation. However, we've found that you can meditate easily by taking a walk and looking at the trees and searching for the Fae at twilight.

I hope we get some more feedback on this subject.

Brightest Blessings,

Milli
Merry Meet Milli,
Thank you For your post and any insights are greatly appreciated. My son is seven and doesn't speak a whole lot. He is not really interested in my spiritual path, though. I was looking for any ideas on how to help him, through spells and whatnot. It is wonderful that you are taking this journey and including your child , disabled or not. My 9 year old daughter express intrest in Wicca and I allow her to read and answer any questions on the subject but I also remind her that spirituality is an individuals personal beliefs and try to teach her about all religions equally so that she can get a feel for each religion. I look forward to getting to know you i know very few pagans\Wiccans and even fewier parents of disabled children. It is always wonderful to find people who are connected to your path because they are following one so similar.

Blessed Be,
Melissa
Hello, Just saw this post. My child was just diagnosed PDD-NOS, which is a form of Autism. He is highly functional but he is regressing. He has a lot of anger issues which makes it very hard for me to deal with him at times, but I try to do a lot of meditation with him. He seems to enjoy that along with the incense and Celtic music. If you would like to friend request me that would be great that way we could chat more often. It's nice to find people in similar situations. I am also having a hard time finding parents that are Pagan or Wiccan of Autistic children.

Hello Gail,
Nice to meet you. Just wondering how old your child is?

Hi Melissa,
My son is 6 years old. It has taken the docs about 3 years to get the diagnosis because my exhusband kept getting in the way of his treatment.

My son is seven and getting him diagnosed was not that difficult for us thanks to First Steps our local 0-3 program for children with delays. Was wondering How verbal he is. I now it is difficult and you worry about his regression but I have learned that my son kind of ebbs and flows, He will regress for a while only to take 5 or 6 steps forward until the next regression. How are the services where you live? By the way where do you Live? In KY we don't have the best services around, My son is getting therapy at school but not enough and his new teacher is not very good with him at all. We recently bought our first home although it is in the same county as our last place, He had to change schools and I have tried to get him back with his old teacher because he was excelling there but they won't provide transportation and since we are a low income family I cannot afford to drive him the twenty mins to and from school. I send you positive energy and love, I know how difficult it can be.

i am autistic and dyslexic i am more devolpoed than most autistic teens becuase i had to deal with it no one lets me slide on threw it
Nice to meet u also. I have a daughter named Isabella. When were you diagnosed? And if you don't mind me asking, I have never really gotten the chance to speak with someone a little older with autism, What do you think made you different as a child and I know it must be really difficult, I worry for my son all the time and I know worring doesn't help, but It is so hard to get through to him, To connect with him, and to know that he knows I love him for who he is just the way his and I only push him so he will have a productive life. He is seven. Any insight you can give me about the thoughts and emotions of someone dealing with this personally would be wonderful. Sending you positive energy,

Blessed Be and thanks so much for responding!

Thank you so much for your insight!! Were you always verbal? William spends as much time alone as he can with two other children in the house. He doesn't converse and loves to line up his favorite stuff, I call them his "shrines" .
