One Month to the Physical Move to Witch City.
The Doldrums of winter continue on, with snow, sleet, cold, and darkness. We honor and respect the power of nature, and the healing dark time of the year. At the end of Samhain, and at the beginning of the Wiccan New Year, we stated we were moving to Salem, and just past Imbolc, we will be making the physical move to Salem. Mass. from central Illinois. We are preparing ourselves for a new cycle.
This move is for various reasons, and we get asked why? The answer is simple, it’s Witch City, the only one that openly exists. The most subtle and important reason is that we will have many more opportunities to grow our mission. Central Illinois is simply too resource starved and impoverished to support a technology company. Witch School International has become a community technology company that does more than teach, we are able to offer solutions to building your community from the local level to the global. In order to grow, we have to have a certain amount of technical and human support, and C.I. simply did not have what we need to really provide the help and support requested of us.
Never forget what the Witch School mission is “To provide Anyone, anywhere, anytime with a Magickal and Wiccan education.”. So everyday, when we begin our day we ask ourselves are we accomplishing this goal, and at the end of the day, we reflect on how we carried out our mission today. Our move to Salem won’t change that, and in fact, we anticipate that it will expand our mission. It will help us coordinate our actions on a local to global level.
The move to Salem, is not just to a single town, but to a state and a region with much greater resources. We are moving from the sprawling Midwest, where we have many roots, to the denser East Coast, where we can get to New York, Washington DC, Boston, all the way to Virginia Beach by a single train route, and only a few hours transport. We will have tens of thousands of opportunities to reach out and share resources with our local communities. This is about 100 million human beings within a day’s transport. We can only benefit from that.
So, for us, it has been six and a half years in the Wilderness Homeland of our tradition, and we move to Witch City. It makes sense, it is what happened and happening to cultures all over the world, moving from the countryside to the city. This time it happens to be a city of Witches.
