Does anyone know where I could find a parchment paper journal to use for a BOS? I am on a budget, so I have found ones that are WAY to expensive, so I am looking to spend anywhere from $20-80....

I know that walmart is now selling parchment paper, and if you want to make it personal how about starting a scrape book that is at walmart and design the outside how you want it, and then put together you own BOOK OF SHADOWS, as I see it, the book is more personal that way

Hi Faerie! This is Julie. I have had the same problems in the past & this is what I found out. Real parchment paper is so costly because it is made of dried skins, so what I did was go to my local paper or graphic store and purchase a ream of "fake" parchment paper for about $9.00, blessed it with my own made up blessing using Promethius as my guide, and put it in a notebook that I bought that had a pentacle on it. You can purchase the note book either on line, or get a 3 ring binder and bless it yourself. You can probably purchase a 3 ring paper hole puncher at the graphic store for under $15. I am not sure what a BOS is (please forgive my ignorance), but I hope this helped! All together, you could get all of this for under $80.00. Good luck & Blessed Be!

what I understand is that "parchment paper" is truly animal skins. But if you buy from a store parchment paper, you may find it to be fake, simulated look of parchment paper, its what I got. I wouldn't use the real thing, as its made not with reverence to the animal.
Thanks for all your help everyone, you know, I did not even realize that real parchment paper was from animals! Learn something new..... I always thought it was made from plants.... So I will be looking for the "fake" stuff, and making my own! Julia, I just abbreviated Book of Shadows, BOS, :)~
There are several alternatives to parchment:

Papyrus - Nice quality but expensive. The best price I've seen is 2.00 a page
Hemp - Nice and durable less than papyrus but still a bit pricey: 35 sheets for 11.00
Onion, Rice etc - fairly inexpensive but fragile. I've found onion skin at around 10.00 for 25 sheets.

Then there's my favorite: the computer and my big spiral bound 5 subject notebook complete with pockets etc. 75%+ post consumer recycled for the eco-friendly side of me. Most of my research goes on to the computer while my spells, ritual etc goes into the notebook. Price for the notbook: 4.95 :-) Hope this helps! Bright blessings.
There's a rather nice BOS within your stated price range over at www.ravenandcrone.com, that I thought was pretty good. Its specific location is at http://www.ravenandcrone.com/catalog/p6888/Book-of-Shadows,-Blank/p.... It's at the high end of your price range, but it's pretty nice. However, aside from the pentacle on it, you could make the same thing yourself for less than half the price. The fake parchment, plastic covers, and 3-ring binder can be had at any stationary store. Get a fake leather 3-ring binder, and then find a nice pentacle and attach it with some sort of adhesive meant for plastics and vinyls. Many novelty stores carry pagan and wiccan symbols. That's probably the best way to go, and that way you can personalize it more.
