Today i saw that the moon was red..Last time i actually noticed it was long time ago. I remember that it was a beautifull red full moon. There is a story someone told me about this. When war is happening to the magical world the blood is reflected to the moon.
Now the moon is at lose(i don't know how this is called..anyway, i hope you understand what i mean). So how this affects us? And what has to do with the magical creatures, fairies e.t.c. If you know stories about the red moon at lose or you have any experiences i would be glad to hear.
The orange and red tints that the Sun and Moon sometimes take on are caused by the particles in the Earth's atmosphere.
When light (or more specifically, packets of light called photons) from an astronomical object passes through the Earth's atmosphere, it scatters off of particles in the latter. It turns out that these particles like to scatter blue light more than they do red light; so "bluer" photons (those with shorter wavelengths) tend to get scattered, and "redder" photons (those with longer wavelengths) pass through. So, astronomical objects look redder from Earth than they would from space, because the redder wavelengths from the objects penetrate the atmosphere better than the bluer ones. Incidentally, this is why the sky is blue: blue light from the Sun is scattered in all directions on its way to the Earth.
But how does this explain the occasional redness of the Moon or the Sun? You might have noticed that they always occur when the Sun or Moon is close to the horizon. If you think about it, sunlight or moonlight must travel through the maximum amount of atmosphere to get to your eyes when the Sun or Moon is on the horizon (remember that that atmosphere is a sphere around the Earth). So, you expect *more* blue light to be scattered from Sunlight or Moonlight when the Sun or Moon is on the horizon than when it is, say, overhead; this makes the object look redder. In other words, the Sun or Moon tends to look orange or red when it is rising or setting because that's the time when the light has to travel through the most atmosphere to get to you. The effect is exacerbated when there are thin clouds in front or behind the Sun or Moon: the clouds themselves often glow bright pink as well, because they are so good at scattering blue light.
To put it more simply - it is the pollution in the atmosphere on the horizon which we see. That is why we have such magnificent sunsets and sun rises as well... not enough reason to pollute but at least some beauty.
JUST FOR THE RECORD: A lunar eclipse occurs when the moon passes behind the earth such that the earth blocks the sun’s rays from striking the moon. This can occur only when the Sun, Earth and Moon are aligned exactly, or very closely so, with the Earth in the middle. Hence, there is always a full moon the night of a lunar eclipse. And there was no full moon last night - well at least not in the southern hemisphere (wink-wink)
The first time I saw a red moon I thought it was the rapture, but then again I was still a brainwashed little boy at the time.. I was petrified... why must you be scared like that.
A red moon is caused usually by dust or pollen in the air.
It was also called a "harvest" moon, and where I live it almost always is red during the harvest season, when the hay and straw are being harvested. It is the perfect time of year (at least in the northern hemisphere) for harvest moons.
Regardless, they are a beautiful and magical site to see!
I have seen one red moon when I was a little girl. My grandmother told me the end was near. This toally petrified me, how can it be near I was 13 and didn't even kiss a boy yet. Well the following year my grandmother died. So i guess she meant the end was near for her. i believe there is a magical significance to the red moon, there is magic in everything. your ideas about the red moon is what matters. I would construct a spell using the elements of fire and water. Cinnamon(fire) comes to mind, and lemon balm(moon), make a tonic with vodka. Let the tonic soak in red moon rays, overnight. Covered with a black cloth. Invoke any moon goddess to bless your "red moon tonic". Now you have access to red moon energies anytime you want it. i would use this for emotional healing. Blessings!
