I am a solitary, and just wondered how other solitaries out there educate themselves? I read all I can, practice what feels right, but sometimes just feel lost. How do you guys practice with no one to guide you? What has been most helpful in your journey?

i am also asolitary and i am just learing i would like some help blessed be chaparra
I mostly study about everything I can get my hands on and then take it as my own using what works for me as an individual. I am very eclectic. I believe the most important thing to remember is that there is no set way of doing it, unless you were to join a coven and then you would most likely have to follow their ideals. I think there are basics that need to be learned and you should remain moral and ethical in your works, but march to the beat of your own drummer girl. Sometimes it's hard to get out of the organized religion mind set. We live in a society that is based on those beliefs so you have to wash off those thoughts. I would be willing to talk to you anytime... Autumn Lilith
This is what Witchschool is all about. The lessons are designed so you can study at your own pace. They help you take it one step at a time. If you feel the need for help, there are groups that you can join where you can discuss the lessons with other students and mentors. The lessons have the structure that is often needed to help a person keep their focus and follow an outlined course of study that gives one direction and guidance so you don't feel lost as to the next step.
I think that this Ning website is wonderful for social interaction among solitaries, but I feel that Witchschool and its First Degree lessons are being overlooked. Whether one decides to become a member of Correllian Tradition or its clergy or not (and membership in the tradition is not required for the lessons) it is the best Wiccan education that is offered online. If you want focus and guided instruction in an online classroom setting where you can study at your own pace, then Witchschool's classes are the best.
I am speaking from experience. Though I had studied for many years before Witchschool came online, I found the structure and direction I needed to attain confidence in my Wiccan and magickal practices as well as my degree levels in the Correllian Nativist Tradition of Wicca, at Witchschool. If you haven't already, I certainly hope you will give the First Degree lessons at Witchschool.com a try!

I spent many years as a solitary. I found that the more I meditated and worked with magic the more I realized that humans are herd animals in nature and need other people. I still do a lot of solitary work. I also go to local wiccan events, attend classes and work with other pagans/wiccans/and people of other faith sets to develop myself as a person and a solitary practitioner. I have found that the social activities make my own rituals and own solitary work so much more rewarding, with out taking away from me marching to the beat of my own drum. If you do decide to learn from groups or classes make certain to watch and observe them and pick the highest quality of people you can find. I travel 90 minutes each way to go and learn from the group that I visit because they are the best around at being true to themselves and to craft. I hope that this helps.

I'm solitary, but try to get involved in local Pagan social activities. I use MeetUp as a way to socialize with Pagans in my area. Witchschool has been and continues to be a large influence in building my spiritual practice. Socializing within the Witchschool community and Correllian Tradition makes me feel like part of a larger family, even as a Solitary. Also, I read a lot of books.

Blessings,
Laura
I have been a soliraty since I started on my path at the age of 19. I read all that I can and keep what works for me. I have an internal "AHHH" when I find things that fill my particular needs. I chose to be a solitary because although I like ritual, I do not like it being set in stone ALL the time. It is not until recently that I have been able to connect to other Pagans. When I was starting out, it was either be a coven member or do it on your own. Plus the places I lived did not have Pegan get-togethers at that time. I enjoy being part of a community of like minds now.

Namaste`, Pat.
For all the time I have been solitary, i have always allowed instinct to guide me. I adopted many techniques from different sources, and blended them with my own. Over years of study, I found the authors I most connected with and used them as a base that I could work from. Inspiration comes when you most need it. Follow your heart and you will do well.
