I've been convinced that i should get more serious in my studies, and to do that one must practice. Hence i wish to do a spell i had planned to do in the past, but never really did despite actual preparations. It is a simple love spell (not directed at somone) to atract a new love. If anyone could help me in developing it, i would really apreciate the help. As most of you know, i'm not the best spellcaster in the forum.
As a base i'm using Scott Cunningham's "Candle Spell", that is, making a symbol of a need in a candle of the apropiate color and letting it burn. I wish to make it more complex, however.
I've decided to use three candles. One that represents the force of the goddess, one that represents the force of the god, and one that represents the outcome of the encounter of both.
The first one will be red, as the goddess is passion, and will have written on it (or i will write during the ritual) a name meaning "Piety, spirituality, devotion, inspiration. Looking into the bottom of the soul. Abates boredom and induces enthusiasm."
The second one will be purple, as the god is knowledge, knowledge brings, inevitably to generosity and filantropy, and i don't want to recive only, but also to give. It will have a name written on it (Or i will write during the ritual) meaning "Love, making friends, cosmic match, unity and impersonal love. Sensitivity, giving, filial love, gratitude, helps get rid of anger and disagreements. Mitigating sentences and building bridges. Compassion and empathy."
The third will be pink, and will be my "Abraxas", that is the sinthesis of the former two forces to create the outcome i desire, in this case, a new love. It will have a name written on it (or i will write it during the ritual) meaning "Unconditional love. Arousing love until it is reciprocated. Strengthens love and relationships. Free love. Love of humanity. Achieving happiness. Relieving bitterness and resentment. Eradicating hate. Encourages marriage, parenthood and making friends."
As i write each name, i'll say aloud what each means.
Once finished i will chant the names 3 or 7 times, (Maybe i'll recite them 1 time for each, and do it seven times, to get a nice 21, 2+1=3.)
And i will leave the candles to burn.
...
At least that is the general idea. I have a few questions, however...
1) Will purple be an apropiate color for the second candle? If not, what might be best?
2) Should i let the candles to burn? Should i put them off as i finish the ritual and light them on every night and make a preyer? It sounds like a good idea, i could do it from the new moon to the full moon, and maybe figure out a "closure" ritual for the full moon.
Any help, advice, or simply being pointed to me messing up horribly in something is apreciated.

Permalink Reply by Sparrow on January 30, 2012 at 11:24pm You could Carve a Symbol Into each candle,a Rune perhaps, One Appropriate to the Desired Intent.
The Next part is Important: Hold the Candle with the Carved Symbol in it. Feel the emotions of what you intend.
As you continue to Feel this, Visualize a ball of White/Yellow Light form from your heart.
See the Light go down your arms and into your hands Into the candle and Imagine the Candle Glowing and the Symbol you carved in Glowing a pail Whitish Yellow Light.
Picture the Light (Still connected to you heart by the way)consuming the Symbol on the Candle and Send your emotions into it until it is so bright that it is a Glowing Yellow/White Sun.
This is how you "Charge the Candle" .
Then I would do as you suggested let it Burn a Little for 9 days. Each day when you Burn a little of it do a meditation or prayer. Focus on your Intent. (You can repeat visualizing the Candle/Symbol Glowing again as the candle burns simply hold your hands close to the Candle visualizing this OR before you Light it Repeat the above Visualization)
Let the Ninth day be the finishing.
I hope that helps to me One candle with the Symbol would be enough but if you wish to personalize than that is great, Then it is yours.Blessed Be

Permalink Reply by Sparrow on January 31, 2012 at 10:05am Nine is the Number of Completion or Fulfillment such as in the Tarot for example the 9 of Cups is a wish come true, the 'Wish Card " it is sometimes called. After that is 10 which is renewal. Karmic release new beginnings , Beginning again after the granted Wish you could Hopefully say.
Permalink Reply by Drakill Tannan on January 31, 2012 at 1:26pm I'll keep it in mind, thank you.

Permalink Reply by Sparrow on January 31, 2012 at 10:19am I definitely agree with the atmosphere of oils and scents. to expand the 9 of Swords is worry to the point were emotion is finally drawn out of the Intellectual Air card of Swords, 9 of Wands is of your actions building things but being mildly wounded by the process(but still success), 9 of pentacles being Much success and Material wealth and Physical health.
9 is a fulfillment number.
In Numerology 9 can be bad as well meaning this is the culmination af how bad it is going to get but, 10 follows which is new beginnings. (Balance is on the way).
For so many Practical/ Magickal purposes nine is the Fulfilling satisfying "Wish" Number (Just like 9 knots in a Witches knot). Hope That helps.

Number 9 is the number of initiation.
I'll be sure to post the spell here, once i see how it works out.
Permalink Reply by Drakill Tannan on February 1, 2012 at 7:55pm By the way Carolyn, oils are made simply by placing the dried plant in the flask with the carrier oil for a few weeks, right? I've never made them tbh. But i've also heard you need to boil the oil while adding the herbs. Are both methods right, both wrong, or wich one is right?
