For the past five years since I started studying the Wicca religion. It has been brought to my understanding that a lot of people that study the Wicca religion. disagree about suggesting books written by the author Silver Raven Wolf.I have had some discussions with some people that say that silver is stuck on herself because she only writes about herself.but what we must come to realize is that Silver Raven Wolf is writing books about her own experience and how she got to where she is today. My question is how do you feel about Silver Raven Wolf? In why would you suggest or would not suggest her books to someone that is just starting to learn about the Wicca religion.

I like her writing style, do I buy all she sells.. NO but that is for me to decide. I have several of her books including Hedge Witch. I will get the rest of her collection as I enjoy reading her books.

has anyone read her fiction?
You know what always gets me is when someone says, MY PATH is better than your path.
I agree, it is just not correct for something as Eclectic as Witchcraft is anyway, or any path for that matter .
I try to take a deep breathe and realize it is human nature when debating this with an elitist..

However when encountering someone who claims superiority it can be very upsetting.br />
In truth one thing that does help me greatly when debating an elitist type is I STOP THINKING OF THEM AS WITCHES OR WICCANS, this may sound funny but it does help ease the debate ,I instead understand that I am dealing with a personality type and argue on that level. A historical ,Psychological level based on personality types as well as the true evolutionary nature of religions.br/>

My Brother is a Unitarian Minister when I attend his church it is filled with stories of how folks left their original faith to become Unitarian because of people from their original traditions were a bunch of absolutist, "Know it alls"

So the next time it really starts to bother me I keep in my mind always (or try to) that this phenomena is not exclusive to Wicca, every religious tradition Suffers this pettiness, We are not alone. -Blessed Be
MM, Sparrow. I just read some of the newer replies above and boy, I 'm gonna have to leave this discussion alone. Does this mean that newbies that choose to be solitaries and read Llewelyn books aren't really following the Wiccan way? Anyway, I know I can still learn from what everyone has to say but I may have to keep my eyes peeled to the other direction. Some people do need to read a few times what they post before hitting the Add Reply button and ask themselves if this posting will help others or make everyone feel like crap. And no, I wasn't referring to you, hon. BB.
Mery meet Cerridwen,

there is no need for you to feel that you cannot comment.

In fact I am not sure who on this particular thread offended you but that is Ok.

I in my statements were referring actually to folks on other websites that engage in "Elitist" philosophies regarding Wicca.

don't be afraid to state your case.

If anyone is a newbie I think that is awesome, to me a seeker is a noble and beautiful thing and a fun place to be.
To be the seeker is to be in the time of "Calling" to be in the time of great new passion.

My first teacher was a lifelong Solitary and she was a VERY gifted Witch.

Do not be fooled by "Elitists' types who say "Oh your Witchcraft isn't real"
Blessed Be
That's right,

Don't be fooled by people who say you aren't real and your magick isn't real. They are trying to cast a powerful spell on you to make themselves feel superior.
Cerridwen, whenever I write discussions a lot of them are going to have a lot of controversy. But you are always more than welcome to leave your comments in my discussion. One of the reasons why I write discussions is not for the people on the site to attack new cumbers and beginners of Wicca or witchcraft. But for all of us to share our knowledge and wisdom in the craft. I know this topic would bring up some things like this. That is why I called it the great debate. Because for many years I have heard a lot of people call Silver Raven Wolf a fluffy bunny due to the fact that she opened up to help new people learn about the Wicca religion. But a lot of people believe that she is just writing about herself. But we must all realize the good work that she has done for our religion.
Thanks, oceanwitch. I still come here and read the posts so I didn't completely stop following the thread. I do know that these postings can and will generate responses from diff. lines of thinking. I'm still thankful for what she's done for the Craft, whether she's a fluff bunny or not, to each their own. BB.
i think that her books are very educational and i read that almost constantly
