Witch School International

Your Online Wicca and Magickal Education Source

The following is a post that was made over at the Wiccan Together website by Flameseeker08. I want to say publicly that I wish I had never said a word in defence of Ed Hubbard.

"Thought you all might like to know, Isarma was "Let Go" from Witch School as a Mentor for her "inappropriate behavior" here. Elise quit just hours before receiving her notification of being fired. Isarma is my Wife, that's how I know :)...
Ed also instructed their entire shareholders at the beginning of the thread to come and observe the process, so this was "televised" so-to-speak. Hope they all found entertainment.

Ed, you say your WW manual is how to "Avoid" Witch Wars, but you sure know how to start one. I am no Witch, Pagan, or Wiccan, having left the school long ago for these same politics and hypocrisy, I claim no such titles, I am merely "me", but even I can see the injustices being done here.

And to EVERYONE at Witchschool and in the Correllian Tradition who refuse to back her up, and her so called friends, (You know who you are), you say you are her friends, you have SAID you have the same feelings toward Ed as she does, and I will call you a liar if you refute this, but when push comes to shove, you shut up and back Ed. Apparently, your coveted positions and titles are more important to you than the truth, than Friends. LIARS! You call her your friend. She TRUSTED you, and you are stabbing her in the back. HOW DARE YOU?! She needed you. Thank Ed for starting this "war" and thank your cowardly selves ( those in CNT and WSI not necessarily the readers of this post) for becoming a part of it.

And thank you, so called "enemy Traditionalists" for backing her up and respecting her as her Tradition should have. I really appreciate it. In my opinion, you have all made your point :)"

Since I may be banned for posting this I need to say this to the community:

I have made friends with many here. The WSi community is the greatest bunch of people on the web. I love the Correllian Nativist tradition, and these two priestesses jumped in there to defend it. The only thing they didn't defend was Ed Hubbard, and for their criticisms were removed from their positions as mentors. Elise has been my mentor, and her and Isarma have students who will miss their teachers. Ed Hubbard is not the head of the tradition, he is the owner of WSi. Criticisms of his work should not be punished by removing teachers who are training students for clergy. This was a business move on Ed's part and only CNT leadership should have that authority, not the guy with the money. Maybe that's just the price we pay for having a school who has an "owner".

Good schools are funded by endowments, and in a sense, are owned by the students who pay tuition. Benefactors make donations to fund building projects and get their names on the building (plus a fair share of good karma). If WSi were to work on this principle Ed would have a vote, but not a final say-so. There wouldn't be a group of "shareholders", there would be a board of trustees. Ed is obviously gifted in the area of financial intelligence. He should be a valuable PART of the decision making process, not the final word.

WSi is a business. Ed Hubbard's business. And as a businessman, Ed, you would jump on an offer (if it was sweet enough, and could be done legally) to buy the school by a unified move from the various temples. Then perhaps decisions like this could be made by votes from representatives from each of those temples, with the head of the tradition acting as a president (the root of the word is "preside". President means "one who presides" not "one who decides").

I am not posting this here to further inflame a situation. I am posting this because something is wrong and it needs fixed. With an effort on the part of the students and clergy it CAN be fixed, but as long as you have an "owner" who tries to sell you on Ebay with rethoric such as "You can be a Dumbledore . . .", and "Buy your own Hogwarts . . . " you are going to be looked down on by others in the Wiccan community at large. Ed, as owner of the site, and owner of the school has no rules, or laws per say which he has to obey.

William Pitt the Elder, in a House of Lords speech in 1770:

"Unlimited power is apt to corrupt the minds of those who possess it; and this I know, my lords, that where laws end, tyranny begins."

Blessed Be

Excellent post. My only remaining question is ''Ed, how low will you stoop as to cast aside two teachers with integrity honor and decency?'' At the end of this thing do not be suprised that the witchschool students will see right through your charlatanism and rise far above you. Do not be dumbfounded when you find in time that it is you Ed that is being cast aside and left out in the cold.
I have to point this out. Nowhere do they say what they were supposedly accused of. Id be interested in seeing that.

They could have been let go for valid reason for all we know.
Mike... On another site, Isarma and I have expressed opinions and stated (at times erroneous concerning me) facts that Ed - and apparently a lot of other people of the Tradition - didn't like. That's what led to our being let go.

A cross-post of that discussion was put here on WSI, I'll let you look for it so I don't get slammed for posting it again, the thread was started by John Thomas and it's called "Libel against WitchSchool" or something like that. Ed provided the link in that discussion here before closing it for comments.

I resigned from mentoring on my own volition - but I beat the school to it by a couple of hours only.
Elise, If you wish to email me privately about your concerns, I'm at ren1999@hotmail.com
"Good schools are funded by endowments" Sadly they actually tried going this way several years back but no one seemed to want to donate money to keep the school going. At least that's what their situation looked like to me.

"This was a business move on Ed's part and only CNT leadership should have that authority" isnt he one of the leadership? I'm not a correllian but I think that's what their website says.

It would be cool if the school could eventually be ran like a real college but that takes alot of many and pagan, as a whole, are very frugal. At leas all the ones I know are. I can say though if i ever win the lottery Ill be the first to donate a huge chunk to further the education of all.

Doubt you will get banned for any of this. unless i am way off base.

Mike
No, Ed is not part of the leadership anymore - the website is actually outdated :) (I didn't say it - Ed did).
Greetings.

I really must take this opportunity to correct some aspects of your post.

First it was not Ed but I who asked that Isarma be dismissed from Mentoring. This was made very clear in the letter. The letter was also very clear as to the reasons, which include frequent and repeating problems with people she has trained. I am decidedly unimpressed with the recent situation, but it is only part of a longer term issue. I will not embarrass anyone by bringing up names and incidents, since several of Isarma's own posts bring them up, as if they had not been her people. One can be a mistake. Twice can be a coincidence. Over and over again is a problem.

The Correllian Tradition is a very open-minded Tradition. We do not as a rule object if members of our Clergy and Mentors have personal opinions that differ from our teachings, but when they are acting in their official capacity as Clergy or Mentors we do expect them to set these personal opinions aside and teach the Correllian point of view.

Second -all the shareholders were informed???? Where on earth do you get that? Anyone who is a shareholder will know that they were not informed. The statement is simply untrue. In fact, this was handle very privately, out of respect for the Mentors privacy.

Blessings all,
Rev. Don Lewis
You know.....I heard some really bad things about WitchSchool.com after I became friends with some of the people here. I ignored it and kept up my friendships. I am disgusted with this. I need emails from my friends....addresses....I am leaving WitchSchool. To what end...I have no idea. All I know is that a document that the "owner" of this site created and posted has caused more hostility than I have ever seen on any other site. I will also warn people of what is going on here. Goddess, I don't want to leave....but how can I defend something that is so damn negative sometimes. Why is it that when someone creates something negative it has the force to ruin the positive aspects for everyone else? Ed, to you......did you know that this would happen when you wrote that document? Are you even sorry at all? You have EVERY right to stand up for what you believe in. But, did it have to cost everyone else also? As a Solitary with no where else to learn from, you really screwed things up for me. I find myself at odds with staying or going! My friends didn't do this.....You made this site to teach and for us!!!! The people who fund you are not your guinea pigs. You see what happens when you treat them as such. Dude! When you are wrong....OWN IT. Isn't that what you are supposed to be teaching? *Mara
Perhaps a bit hasty. I will weigh my decision with my brain and not my emotional response. This snap decision making sometimes gets me into trouble. I just don't understand how something so positive has become so negative. Is it money? Goddess I hope not. Even Emerson warns the Scholar of money. I believe some people need to read "The American Scholar" by Ralph Waldo Emerson and see what exactly the word "scholar" means. If we as pagans are not scholars, then what are we????????
I could answer that - but that might get me banned... and I so like debating with you all...
Touche my friend.
I don't think they really ban people for voicing their opinion unless they go really off the wall with their language or such.

Looks like some of the actual parties involved are still members of both sites. Just not mentors anymore.
