I'm planning on doing a maypole dance, as I finally have enough room at our new land to do it, and I have enough people interested in attending. I've attended one before, but I've never gotten the chance to host. I know how to do the dance, how to make the pole, all that, but I've not seen any mention of what people typically do with the pole after the dance is over.
So if anyone has hosted a maypole dance, what did you do with the pole after it was over?
I have been involved with a group the last couple of years and they save the pole, and reuse it the next year. They just attach the new ribbons to the top of the pole covering the ones from the previous years, I think they replaced it with a new one after a few years. I am not sure, what their plan is as I am not with them anymore. I am however planning on hosting it at my house with a few others.
So I am debating on what to do after the circle with it. I am not sure where I can store it for the year where it won't get ruined. I wonder if it would be okay to hang it on the wall.
MM, Chrissy Lynn and Mary Blood. I've not attended one but for a sentimental like myself, I will save th pole indoors if I don't have a large storage shed and a big-enough space indoors like a basement or family room. I'll even hang the pole sideways if it wouldn't be disrespectful. Those colorful ribbons tied should be okay for storing indoors as long as it the humidity isn't too bad inside or in the storage shed. Looking forward to attending one this year, just trying to sort out which one I'm going to. BB.
I really want to do something "Old religiony" this May day or Beltaine it has been to long.
Yes I am very Blessed to know Witches in my area but we almost never get to truly Unload and just be Fully beautifully Pagan, so I may go to a Beltaine weekend this year if I can.
I say reuse the pole, I also say Blessed BE it is late for me.
