So how does everyone celebrate? Do you celebrate Yule or Christmas, or both? We always open presents on Yule, and then have a big feast on Christmas day.
I love yule. all though a lot of my yuletide stuff is very "christmassy" I take
time to recognise the shift of the season. Here in Alpine is is very cold and
snowy! We really feel the seasons around here. I am actually not very fond of
the cold here - so I dont go out as often as I should. Nearer to yule my husband
and I will take Rhiannon on another "winter adventure". W will show her all the
magical things happening at this time. I am still planning my yule ritual which
will definitely feature some pine cones, a little cinnamon, and a lot of cheer!
I am collecting snow, which I melt down to use as ritual water for my altar,
here in the mountains the snow is so clean and pure that it is incredible! If I
make it to Jackson I may take Rhiannon to the national elk refuge, where the elk
should be spending the winter grazing in the valley. This time of year it is
awesome to go on a hike into the forest! You can hear the absolute stillness of
the trees... it is as if all of nature is silently awaiting the return of the
god. The scent of pine is thick in the air around hear and every tree is frosted
with fresh snow. I am hoping that i can do a yule ritual in the forest this
year! However I am super busy planning my daughter's first birthday party and
family "Christmas" so an indoor one may have to suffice.
