Greetings, all
Discrimination is an evil, period. I suggest that education is of the utmost importance in order to de-mystify Neo-Paganism in the eyes of the relatively ignorant general public. In SA, the majority of people understand the term Witch, to mean an inhently evil sorcerer or poisoner - a malevolent practitioner. The Nganga, on the other hand, are what everyone here would see as Pagan, mainly performing divination, prophecy and healing works. They are what the rest of the Pagan world would see as Witches, and are never attacked or discriminated against.
It's all in the verbage, and how different people interpret terminology.

On the other hand, there is a very dominant conservative Christian religious element here that has an almost medieval attitude towards Pagans in general, displaying no tolerance at all and viewing Pagans as being one and the same as devil-worshippers etc.

Thanks for being here to support the fight against the burnings and stonings of suspected witches in Africa. For that is what they are - suspected innocents who suffer the wrath of those who believe that all their misfortunes are as a result of malignant supernatural causes, and never of their own doings....
