Balance

    I had hoped to get this posted before Mabon/Fall Equinox but, we are still under it's energy frequency, which seeks balance in all things.  Cock came to me with the Wisdom of balance around Mabon 2004.  I was calling it Rooster but, my husband got such great joy saying I was being visited by Cock, that it stuck.  Actually he, my husband, was the one who first noticed that Cock was trying to get through to me. 

    I had never been into roosters as decoration.  When my mother passed, I gave away hundreds of rooster knick knacks thinking they were tacky.  I teach in a portable classroom and right after school started in 2004, a rooster took up residence around my portable.  As we are kind of on the edge of the woods, I had been leaving out dry cat food to encourage cats and therefore discourage rats.  The rooster loved the cat food.  The principal had turned a blind eye and soon, of course, my students started bringing in all kinds of rooster stuff.  It was when I purchased a large engraving of a rooster from one of the art teachers and asked my husband to hang it in our kitchen at home that he said maybe Cock had come to me as Totem. 

    Research into Cock Medicine revealed it is symbolic of male energy(duh.)  At this time, I had been studying and  honoring the Sacred Feminine aspect of the Divine exclusively for about six years.  When I first discovered the Goddess and realized the extent of the dastardly deeds that men have used to discredit and devalue Her throughout the ages, I was pretty angry at males in general and God personified as Father(with no mention of Mother) specifically. 

   Cock came to remind me that the Divine Essence is neither male nor female but, comprised of what humans have personified as both masculine and feminine energies.  I was way out of balance by ignoring and even maligning the Sacred Masculine. 

    As soon as I opened my heart, added a symbolic Masculine candle to the Alter and truly began honoring the Sacred Masculine equally with the Sacred Feminine, Magick opened for me in a way I had not previously experienced.  Blessed Be!!!  Gaia'l
