Merry meet everyone. I have been trying to find a tradition that makes sense for me. I have been doing alot of reading but still come up with nothing. I am french, I have been able to trace family back to the early 1600s in France. I figure why not look into the tradition from there but no luck yet again :( Can anyone tell me which witch tradition comes from France? Any info would be great!

Blessings!

The Divine is personal to each individual and meets what is needed to continue personal spiritual growth. Most traditions are chosen based where you gain the most support. People generally cling to the same religion as other family members. Others may change tradition according to a shift in beliefs and need for individual growth.
Researching a past or seldom practiced tradition may offer additional insight from where our practices have evolved from. It is becoming more popular to believe that our planet is under a global convergence of consciousness which may be related to the Mayan time cycle. Assuming there is some truth in this, you may be inspired to modify past traditions to meet current practices that make the kind of sense you're looking for.
Remember, we are magickal and co-creators of our existences. Accept inspiration from where ever the Divine offers it. I wish your journy of exploration may be one of growth.
MM Mystic Ashling,
I do not know any tradition that is specifically relating to France.
But I would certainly like to have you as a friend,
Personally I am mainly Welsh.
Blessed be your path when you become settled.

I have no idea if this will help but here is a link and you can read through.

However,if during your research you find bits and pieces of different aspects of the craft. You can mesh these together so to speak and worship/practice as you choose. it all depends on how comfortable you feel doing what you do,in my opinion.
Thank you very much everyone for the info! And Magiccat, I will for sure read through the link :)
I know how you feel with trying to find a "ancestor" tradition for yourself. I'm of Italian descent and after much searching found the Straga tradition of Italy. I studied it for a while. Found that somethings called to me and other aspects of Straga was completely foreign. I finally realized that I was so far removed from this religion of my ancestors and so I call myself eclectic. I took what I could from Straga and added it to my rituals. Just feels right.
Find what you can, but your own practice will be what feels right to you.
im part blackfeet so part of my practices includes rites lore etc from that. Also being japanese in a past life (was an ashigaru & got shot in the chest by a teppo - a type of arquebus - when i was born i had that wound on my chest - now a birthmark and as a child always been drawn to japanese culture & fascinated by samurai films) i studied shinto zen buddhism & eventtually onmyodo. My personal path is a mix of that now (studied wicca too but it never "felt right"). Find what appeals to you & practice it - even if you turn eclectic - taking what works & discarding what doesnt - that doesnnt mean its "wrong" it just makes your personal path that much more personal & true to you.
