Ok, guys! Everybody seemed very excited to read and then get started on this discussion, so I'd like to start off by suggesting a few talking points.

First, what did you think about the "vamp" legend/lore found in the book? Did it appeal to you? Did you find it interesting, boring, odd, what?

Second, what themes have you found in the book so far, and were they subtle or did they feel harped-on?

Third, overall, did you find yourself wanting to just read and read, or did you have to push yourself to keep going? That, to me, is always an important part of reading a book! :)

When you answer, please describe in some detail what you think. I'm going to reserve my own response till some of you have replied, as I don't want to "lead" anyone anywhere, and I also want to see what others have to say. When you answer, also, can you please give me some idea of your age (a range is fine, if you don't want to give an exact!)--mainly, since this is considered a teen novel, I'd like to hear if we're dealing with all ages of people reading, or just teens here. It will be interesting to hear your replies. Let's get this party started! This discussion will remain open until we've "exhausted" all discussion. Our next discussion, BTW, will commence next Friday, and it will be for pg. 99-206.

Hugs and BB,

Jen :)

Hey Traisfire,
I'm starting the next discussion today, but please don't worry--I'd love to hear your opinion on this section of the book when you have time, and then the second section as well. No need to rush, just when you get to it.
Hugs and BB,
jen :)
P.S. Same goes for anyone who has yet to participate but still wants to! ;)
Hey, I was finally able to finish the first 100... Here goes...

I am 25 and I really enjoyed this book so far. The "revamped" vamp legend was pretty interesting I had never read it that way before. There is a respect/fear for the vamps that sort of equates to the old kitchen witches and healers of older times... Maybe I am reading to much into it.....
Hey Traisfire--I don't think you're reading too much into it, and I think the more you read, the more you'll find that one out!
Hugs and BB,
Jen :)
I am 51 and a guy and enjoy "teen" books quite a bit so you can all put your embarrassment away about reading teen lit. :)I am listening to the next book in the series in my car and have Marked reserved at the library. I am enjoying reading everyone's comments so keep it up.
LOL! That's funny... Very cool--if you enjoy "teen" books, you'll really enjoy this one. But I'm surprised you can keep up with the next one if you don't know what happened in this one? :)
Hugs and BB,
Jen :)
There are a few things that I don't get but that is part of the fun.
