Hey guys,

I need to first let you know something very important! I'm having computer issues, which is why you haven't seen me in DAYS on end! Not only am I having computer issues (some of which I'm skilled at dealing with, others are beyond my skills), but I'm having trouble accessing the internet. That is more the problem than anything. IDK if it's a bad sector, a Trojan, a Worm, or all 3, or something else altogether horrendous. However, my internet service is a separate issue. How nice, eh?

At any rate, you may be seeing a good bit of me from now on, since AT&T has kindly supplied me with a few things that have helped and will be supplying an additional data stick today that may (or may not) help the situation as well. However, we need to make a few decisions regarding the BOM for March.

I apologize for not being around, but those issues can't have been helped. I also did JUST get my book a day or 2 ago. I have read the intro, and am aware of a couple of issues that could drive us into several months of reading this book, which brings me to my concerns with making this a BOM. We've decided, so it's the BOM, but it may end up being MAR/APR BOM at least, but it could go on for several months.

So, let me lay out my concerns, and we'll take a vote on what's the best suggestion. We all need to make a few decisions on how we'll do this. In the intro, Michelle notes that first, she suggests we all keep a journal. I don't particularly care if you keep a journal or not, but we should probably decide how that's going to happen--we can do it here on the forum or you can do it at home, it's fine with me either way. We can also decide if we're going to share the journal entries here or not. And if you choose to or not, it's fine with me, we just need to make a decision as to if anyone wants to or not. We'll have to make decisions about how that will be handled.

Additionally, she suggests that we take a week to work on the exercises. If we do so, we're talking 15 weeks of this BOM. I'm not completely prepared to take over this club for this book for that long. I'm thinking more like 3 chapters a week, if everyone feels they can handle this. Otherwise, I suggest perhaps we work on the book for March, maybe April, then set it aside, so others can participate in the next BOM, then pick it back up again for the next BOM, then set it aside and just take quite a few months to get through it as the non-fiction book. I think it's a bit unfair to everyone who WON'T be participating in it to go through it entirely for 15 weeks and not do another book. But you all can help me make the decision. I don't OWN this forum, it's yours as well, and I think we all should make the decision together.

Also, in doing the exercises, it may be difficult to do them all in one setting, so going for a couple weeks, then setting the book aside may be a good idea to do another BOM while practicing the exercises might not be a bad idea, tho. We'll also be discussing the exercises, your responses to them, and I want to ensure that no one gets frustrated, so if you think you might, please let's do this week by week and set the book aside after a short period of time, so you can continue to practice.

Another question I have is how would you like me to set up discussions? Should we discuss only the journal entries, or would you like me to provide more questions, as I have been in the other BOM discussions? I've been adding at least one question for everyone to ask the group. How do you feel about that? Any suggestions. I know that this goes back to journal entries, but to me, it's an important aspect of how we'll do this.

If you want to continue the book all 15 weeks in a row, I would highly suggest you try to get more members involved. Of course, everyone can come in and get involved at any time and catch up anytime. But, I think it's really unfair for only about 8 or 9 people to read a BOM that lasts 15 weeks--that's almost 4 months. That's JMO, FWIW. I also am not sure how I feel about having such a small group involved in that long a BOM...

But it's up to everyone, just wanted to give my input. And I hope you're already reading!

Ok, so let's vote, so we can get started on discussion, I'd like to start asap!!

1.) Journal entries: Do we want to discuss them at all on the forum, and if so, do we simply want to make them a part of the discussion questions? Do we NOT want to share them and just keep them private?

2.) Weekly discussions: How many chapters to read at a time? Just 1? 3 at a time? Do we want to add more than just journal questions to the discussions (if at all)? Or do we want to discuss the chapters completely separately from journal questions, and then add a group question to ask others? Any suggestions as to how to go about this are welcome! :)

3.) If we read just one chapter at a time: Do we want to insert breaks to give us time to adjust to the exercises and absorb them (and perhaps make this fair to others to read books as well)? Or do we want to plow right on through?

4.) How soon do you think you could reasonably begin the first discussion (this will be based on the # of chapters per week, I'm sure!)? This week or next?

If there are any other suggestions based on what you've already read, please feel free to add them, but PLEASE vote on this ASAP! We need to make a decision and get going. If no one votes or adds to this by this Saturday, I'll make the decision, and we'll go from there. I really don't want to do that, so PLEASE let's vote!

Hugs and BB,

jen :)

i think your idea about reading this bom sounds great.bb shannon
I like the idea of sharing journal entries - if individuals made them as computer files (a stretch for me - I prefer my pen and paper!), then they could copy and paste to the site only the parts they want to share. You could designate certain exercises to share as a group in each chapter, and others that are more peripheral do on your own ones - then we could potentially do the 3 chapters a week. I don't have the book yet so don't know how ridgid the format is! I'm sure anything you decide will work out. I'm purchasing the book now and downloading it to me kindle, so it will be there when I get home to start working on.
Thanks for your replies so far, and please note that I just added a fourth question, as it occurred to me, we need to determine 1 more thing! LOL ;)

Journal Entries~ I think they should be a separate discussion from the chapters and optional.

Weekly discussions ~ one chapter at a time may be a good idea since there are exercises to do.

breaks may be a good idea so the book can be used as intended.
i have already started reading the book and can start the discussion at anytime bb shannon
For me (since I'm in a Science of Mind Practitioner's class AND this weekend I'll be doing Oneness Blessing training and become initiated to give Oneness Blessings or Deeksha, AND this coming Monday I start working swing shift) I'd like to do one chapter at a time, or if there are short chapters, group them together. .... Journal writing sharing is sort of an individual thing..... okay if they want, okay if they don't....
My humble opinion only =) and these opinions coming from a brain that's on overload right now. Think I'll go meditate.
I didn't realize that this book was so in depth so I don't think that I will be able to participate. I didn't buy it, I only InterLibraryLoaned so I only have it for a month. I wanted to preview it before I bought it, since it is not something that I would normally buy. I will try to chime in, but I don't think that I will be an active participant in this one.

It seems like everyone's busy, and I'm thinking what may be best, based on feedback so far is this:
1.) Journal entries as part of discussions, and optional--with other questions to discuss as well based on the chapters.
2.) Weekly discussions 1 chapter at a time, as this will keep everyone going at their own pace, and cause no need to rush.
3.) We will read through March and April, then take a break and take it back up for June, then every other month until it's complete. As it's already halfway through March, it seems silly to try to find a book for April, so we'll concentrate on this one for March and April, then find something else for May, which true to form will be fiction again. We'll take it back up in June, and continue in that pattern till we've completed it and exhausted all discussion. Now, this doesn't mean we can't discuss it while we're discussing another book, as I've stated before with others, just want to make that clear--all discussions can continue, especially if we have newcomers, etc. But it will make it easier for everyone to get a good grasp of everything going on, and give us all a break, plus include others in the book club! :)
4.) I propose to start the first discussion next Friday, March 19.

Please let me know how these suggestions work for everyone, and if anyone has any issues or concerns with them. If you wish to do it differently, or if I've misunderstood anyone, please let me know. I'm taking what everyone has said and simply put it into a cohesive unit--I know I can't please everyone, but I've tried to go by what the majority have seemed to have suggested. Unfortunately, there just haven't been a lot of suggestions to go by, so I also have had to add my own opinions! If no one adds anything else, we'll go with this (or if everyone seems agreeable, we will!), and I'll see you on March 19 for our first discussion of Chapter 1. Oh, and we'll discuss how everyone is doing with exercises in the discussions as well...

Hugs and BB,
jen :)
