MAR 2011 BOM "Psychic Self-Defense" by Dion Fortune, Wk 2, Disc. 2, Ch. 6-9

Hey guys,

Sorry it's been a while, I had intended to get this loaded up earlier this week, but things have been really crazy for me. I've been nursing some injuries and haven't been able to sit up real well the last couple days to even get online.

Anyway, here goes the next discussion, and I'll post my own responses in a day or 2, can't sit a lot longer!

1.) What did you think about the information about "Hauntings" as Dion describes them?

2.) How did you feel about the discussion of non-humans and their contacts with us?

3.) Did you find any gems in the chapter on Ceremonial Magic(k)?

4.) Do you do anything in particular to protect against problems that might arrise when you perform rituals? And did you do those before reading this book?

5.) What did you think about the difference between an actual psychic attack and a psychic disturbance?

6.) Would you have known the difference between the 2 before having read this book?

1.) I really like what she has to say, although as she points out, she limits her discussion to what she has experienced, so there is more to the full discussion to be found out there. I like that about her, too, that she limits her discussion to what she knows!

2.) To me, it makes a lot of sense (and some sense for some encounters with men in my life! lol), and I can see where contact with humans is an issue where non-humans are concerned. As a paranormal investigator, this is a concern for me, and it's always something we look for.

3.) I loved the discussion about the Qabbalah, and about the positive and negative side of both positive/negative good and positive/negative evil, the Qlippoth. A lot of good stuff here. This chapter was rife with gems, IMHO! I also think there was a great discussion about not knowing what you're doing/not getting results vs. basically totally screwing things up.

4.) Absolutely. I always shield/protect, cast circle, etc. I would never do anything without being absolutely protected! I have always done that--I can't say I did it before reading the book, but I hadn't learned that much, as I read the book long before I ever started any rituals, but I can say I would have, because that's the reason I never had. I simply hadn't progressed far enough in my studies to feel comfortable in doing anything that I didn't feel was safe enough for me to do, so I didn't do anything.

5.) I think it makes a lot of sense. An attack is an actual force that is intentional. A disturbance may even be caused by your own psyche.

6.) I'm honestly not sure I would have!
