MAR 2011 BOM, "Psychic Self-Defense" by Dion Fortune, Wk 3, Disc. 3, Ch. 10-15

Hey guys,

Sorry it took a bit to get this discussion up. I know I'm only a few days behind on this one, but it's been a tough week!

Anyway, here we go! I'll add my replies in a day or 2.

1.) What did you think about the non-occult dangers associated with the Black Lodge and the information provided therein?

2.) How did you feel when you read about the psychic elements that could be present in mental disturbances?

3.) What did you think in general about the methods of making a psychic attack?

4.) What about the case of the concert singer? And of the Oriental Adept?

5.) How did you feel about the motives of psychic attack (both parts)?

6.) What about both cases of Mr. X?

7.) Did you find anything interesting or helpful from the physical aspect of phychic attack and defense? Do you mind sharing?

Hugs and BB,
jen :)

1.) "sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll" is kinda the first thing that comes to mind, in a off-color manner of speaking. It's not surprising, and it's just sorta that "go figure" kinda thought you get.

2.) It totally does NOT surprise me at all. I've thought about this for a very long time.

3.) Other than the fact that I'd never do it, or that it disgusts me? Um... Ok, let's just be honest here, I've been a victim of at least one, maybe more, psychic attack, and it wasn't fun. I've known methods of psychic attack for a while, because my mentor at the time was helpful in teaching me how to protect myself, and he was the one who encouraged me to read this book in the first place. But as far as how to do it, I think it's definitely more difficult than defending, but I think it's not for me. I just don't think that way. I think it takes some pretty serious scum, or at least someone who seriously believes they've been majorly harmed (altho I still don't think this is the way to resolve the situation). I fight differently, that's all. And don't get me wrong, I consider myself a grey witch, so I'm not all about being completely altruistic. I can get angry if you push me too far. I take a LOT, but if I get to that point where you've really done it, well, you'll be seeing me, but it won't be what you think... I would prefer to keep things peaceful as much as possible.

4.) To me, this is just unconscionable, but I know that people do this. I totally believe that it occurs, and I believe this story. I know that hypnotism does work, so I absolutely know that this could occur easily, and I'm glad the spell was broken for the concert singer. As for the Oriental Adept, for me I believe this is similar, but more of the Black Lodge situation, more evil. I just hate that people feel the need to control others and this it is acceptable. We all have our own wills, and we should use them as we wish.

5.) Selfish, selfish, selfish. All for one's own use. Wrong.

6.) Again, for both of them, this is the epitome of hypnotism and psychic attack, just pure evil. And it's one thing to do with a single woman, I suppose, still wrong, but one thing. But it's wholly another to do it to a married woman and destroy even more lives!

7.) To me, the physical has always been very important, and I learned that early on. I can't say that I necessarily found anyting interesting this time around, because like I said, I always find useful things. But I did learn a lot from the first time I picked up the book. I am always very cautious to teach students about the physical aspect and taking care of that before suspecting an attack, and even if it sounds like one, get any medical things treated, watch your diet, etc.

jen :)
