MAY 2011 BOM "Breaking Dawn" by Stephenie Meyer, Wk 3, Disc 3, Ch. 19-28

Hey guys,

I'd apologize profusely for this being so late, but it doesn't look like anybody's really waiting for it on baited breath! lol ;)

Here's the next set of questions:
1.) What did you think about the description of Bella's giving birth and subsequent Change?

2.) Did you anticipate anything about how Bella would react to her Change or during the Hunt?

3.) What did you think about Bella's first meeting her child, and then finding out about Jacob's connection to her?

4.) Were you at all surprised when everyone began talking about the restraint Bella was showing as part of her "gift"? What do you think it has to do with?

5.) What did you think of everyone celebrating Bella's birthday, and what did you think of her present from the family?

6.) What about Charlie? What did you think about Jacob talking with Charlie and Charlie's subsequent visit?

7.) Did you find yourself laughing when Bella beat Jacob in the arm-wrestling competition? Did you think she'd win or lose?

8.) What did you think when Aro's gift arrived? Did it seem like an omen, or just a kind gift?

9.) When you read about Irina, did you believe it would bring about the death sentence Bella believed it would be?

Hugs and BB,
jen :)

1.) I thought it was very imaginative and a great way to let us know what she thought would be an appropriate experience for the way she was writing the book. I think she really took a lot of great details and put them down on paper for us to really live through the experience with Bella.

2.) I did. I really kinda thought that Bella would be able to handle the Change pretty well, and that as conscientious as she had been about not being very aggressive and all, that she'd probably be as aware as possible about human interaction and not try to attack humans, etc. I really expected what we were given.

3.) I wasn't surprised at the meeting with Renesmee, although I was a bit surprised that she didn't get after Jacob more than she did. I thought she'd go a little nuttier on Jake. I thought the meeting with Renesmee was really cool, and I liked how it played out. I think the thing with Jake was a little less dramatic than I expected. I thought she'd go a little more over the deep end, but she kept her temper better than I thought (even tho she attacked and Seth got the best of that one!).

4.) We knew that Bella had a gift, and no one had been able to read her mind. She had an impermeability about her, and I think it was really more of a force of will than anything else. So I really did expect her to be a "good" vamp, even as a newborn. I wasn't at all surprised that she did so well, and I also do believe it was part of that gift.

5.) I was a little surprised that they celebrated, cuz she technically wasn't aging anymore, and she was too young to have a vamp birthday, but I thought it was nice and very thoughtful of them. I thought the present was awesome! I wish somebody would give me a house! lol ;)

6.) I felt so sorry for Charlie, because he was brought into a world that he never knew about or asked to be a part of. I think that Jake meant well, but it may not have been the right thing to do at the time. It maybe shouldn't have been done right then. The fact that it was done is what it was. The visit went well, but Charlie was so out of it and seemed at first like a mindless zombie. Who wouldn't, having been put in an impossible situation where you really don't understand (or want to know) what's going on around you?

7.) Oh, absolutely! I lol'd big time. I absolutely expected her to beat him. I could see the writing on the walls!

8.) I figured the gift was a definite omen, and not necessarily a good one at that. It seemed very underlaid with subtlety and a sort of "when are you coming to see me and prove you're a vampire?" type of feeling.

9.) I figured she'd head straight for the Volturri, but I believed fully that Bella and the rest of the Cullens and the wolves would fight and win. I just did not see that the Volturri would be able to win this one because the Cullens clearly are on the right side. The Volturri just need to be convinced, which I figured would happen eventually...
