MAY 2011 BOM "Breaking Dawn" By Stephenie Meyer Wk 4 Disc 4 (Final), Ch. 29-39

Hey guys,

This will be our last discussion for May!

1.) What was your first thought when Alice left?

2.) What did you think about the constant parade of people coming in and "seeing" Renesmee's story?

3.) How about the strategizing, the play-fighting, the shielding practice, etc? Did it remind you of anything?

4.) What did you think about the meeting with Mr. Jenks?

5.) How about When she received and then packed the back with the documents she had requested? Did you think Renesmee and Jake would really leave, or even have to?

6.) What did you think about the initial part of the confrontation in the woods with the Volturri?

7.) And what about the subsequent "fight" and then exchange with Nahuel?

Hugs and BB,
jen :)

1.) I figured immediately that she had a plan to put into motion. I had no doubt that she'd be back before the end of the fight, if that was what it came down to. I was also pretty sure she'd have some clues left behind to let everyone know what she was doing.

2.) I thought it was interesting, probably going to get very crowded, and possibly could scare Renesmee, but I was hoping, like everyone else, I'm guessing, that it would improve their chances against the Volturri. I thought it would also likely scare everyone that "saw" the story.

3.) The shielding part reminded me a lot of my own psychic shielding practices, playing with the shield, determining how far I could get it, and who I could cover with it. I thought it was a great exercise, and a good way to show people what was going on with them all, who had what active powers as they were working toward the fight, if it were to come to that. I thought it was sad that Edward wouldn't fight with Bella.

4.) I thought it was interesting and was very curious to know how the meetings ever started with him to begin with, when the Cullens first started using his firm to do business with.

5.) I didn't think it would become necessary, but I did feel bad that Bella felt it would come to that. I think she did what she felt was necessary, as all parents do at some point or another for their children. I think it was almost like making a will, or making a last-ditch effort to save her child. It was something she felt was so necessary to keep her child alive. I think that's really acting like a mother should.

6.) It seemed like a sham. Like the Volturri were pretending to listen, or were listening, but would come up with some reason as to why, even though Renesmee was not evil or wasn't pure vampire, she would be a danger anyway. And even though they were listening, or pretending to, they were still going to find a reason to be done with her and kill her.

7.) I thought it was great, because I figured the Volturri had to be scared that there was real power directed at them, power that they knew they couldn't fight, and Aro wasn't about to lose this one. Nahuel gave him a way out, and so he chose to back down gracefully, and be able to save face without having to admit to weakness.
