What can I do for you?

Hey guys, I just wanted to see if there was anything I can do to make this group better for you? It seems like we're having problems choosing books and getting people involved in discussions, despite people showing interest in reading the books chosen and showing interest in being involved in the discussions.

So I was wondering if there's something either I am doing that is bothersome or if there is something I can do that would make it easier for you to get involved? If you don't feel comfortable hashing it out here, you can feel free to send me a PM or add a comment to my own page, or we can discuss it here. I can always get rid of the discussion or close it if there's something that is said that is uncomfortable for anyone involved.

I know that we've been kinda dead for a while, so perhaps it's just that we're trying to get going again, and that's why we're having issues? Perhaps it's just that people are really busy. I'm not taking anything personally here (unless I need to! LOL), but I just want to know if there's anything I can do to change things up or make it easier for us to get a more cohesive group. With 180 members, I was sort of hoping we'd have more than 3 members reading a book and discussing it, especially given that at least 8 people stated they'd read and discuss. Now, I do know that a few people were having problems getting their books, but still--several more committed to the discussion, and we have almost nothing going on.

Also, I was hoping that by starting March's vote for the BOM early, we'd get more interest, but there have been only 2 responses besides my own, so I have to wonder what is going on. Please be honest here and let me know what's up. Are you too busy? Did you forget we were here? What's going on?

If there's anything at all I can do to change things up, please let me know, and here's the place to do it! Any and all suggestions are not only welcome but absolutely hoped for and wanted!!

Jen,

I don't have any suggestions but I want you to know that I think you are doing a fine job as a mediator. I just have an issue with time... 2 kids and a job make reading and discussing books a chore, but one that I welcome more than dishes LOL... I am trying to keep up.

Thanks, Traisfire--that means a lot to me! I appreciate it. And I can't wait to hear what you have to say about Marked. It's been a surprisingly good read for me. I think you'll enjoy it more than you might have expected! Definitely better than dishes! LOL ;)

I would love to get this group going again. I have two books I'm reading by Christopher Penzcak. I think he is an awesome writer. I'm reading "The Inner Temple of Witchcraft," and "The Magick of Reiki." I love both books. "The Inner Temple of Withcraft" really gets to the heart of the history of Witchcraft, and it is an easy read. You can find the book on Amazon.com for under $12.00. Just a suggestion.

hi jen i am sorry about that i think you are doing a great job well i got sucked into a different book i was reading a book by michelle moran called nefertiti and the hereitc queen it is historical fiction. great stroies about the life of the egyptian royal family during the eighteenth dynasty's. anyway i will try and catch up with everyone.bb shannon

Jen, you're doing a great job. Everyone I know has been crazy mad dog busy the past few months and I think that's alot of what's going on.

Jen, i think your doing a terrific job...i just couldn't get done with the book...i joined to late this month but i really wish they would vote because i am soo anxious...lol

No issues there, hun! I appreciate your input, and I'm glad you're with us. I'll look forward to you being able to discuss with us the next book, cuz we're starting a little later than I wanted, but it does give us more time to all get books!

I would really like to thank everyone for their comments so far, and I really hope that anyone who has any ideas as to how I can help make this group grow and become better will continue to post here. I'd like to keep this discussion open and current for as long as possible.

Additionally, I'd like to let you all know that I personally do have an idea of something I'd like to do from now on. I intend to start our voting for the next month's BOM within a week of us beginning our current month. So, say we start March, as it's the upcoming month, and then I'll post the first discussion. I'd like to post the first discussion, and then immediately begin voting for the April BOM (which will be Fiction again). I'd like to try to see if we can not only drum up more interest but keep people interested. I think this will also help us to keep on track with starting as soon as possible into the month, as most of us will have more time to purchase books. What do you guys think about this suggestion?
