Luna is my 2 yr old tabby-barn cat and she likes to use my altar as an extra step to get into the window. My altar is the top of a cheap 3 shelf bookshelf from walmart and you can see it stress when she jumps on the top shelf to get up to the window sill. I already had to put some of my glass stuff away and I'm gonna move it away from the window after a little while, but it will leave that space open so I wanna wait till I get more furniture, which might mean taking my altar down for a while. If I move it, I worry she might get up on it anyways because when I had it on my dresser at my parents house, she would sit on it even though it was nowhere near my window.

Any ideas? Lol. I'd appreciate it.
I dont want her to break anything I put on it, but I dont want her to get hurt either because the shelf might break and I light candles.
Thank you in advanced.

Merry Meet, River. I use a harmless water squirt gun for Bear Crowe when he gets on the dining room table. A few quick shots and he gets off; no damage done to him, since he's always drinking from the sink faucets. I hope that helps you.

Merry meets!
If I want to keep my cat away from an easily-accessible places, I use citruses: usually cats strongly don't like it. You can use different part of citrus fruits, for instance, orange peel, or citrus perfume or incense. Maybe, this will help)
Merry Meet

I use citrus too. I use citrus incense quite alot and I also use lemon and orange peel.

I moved my altar to my dresser and I made sure it was away from the window, because the nature of cats is find a high place or access to window. I also will say no, and if that don't do it, I remove the cat from the altar or place they are on, they learn quick that no means what it is..a no no..
BUT also remember when we sleep they do as the like...sigh

Owl
As long as he/she has claws they hate the texture of tin goil. I wrap the sides of plant pots to keep them out and it works, and I have 3!
I have used the citrus and squirt bottles as well but my cat (and my room mate's cats) refused to stay off of my alter. I had to resort to more drastic measures, and, unfortunately slightly messier ones....I ended up having to get those pop-rocks crackers from a fireworks store and use them whenever any of the cats got on my alter. I toss one on the floor when they jump up and the noise startles them into jumping down. It doesn't hurt them, only startles them.

I just made a hiss sound when ever she is doing something she shouldn't. My cat, Pyxis thought fire was pretty. Yeah that wasn't good but hissing at her when she tried to jump up on my alter worked. She gets the idea and is trained not to go certain places now. It takes a while but my cat listens pretty well she doesn't like the hiss scolding. But for more stubborn cats you may need to do the water squirting. Repeated no-no's and they learn.

Merry Meet, River I also have a cat that loves my Altar so what I did is I moved my pet Altar down to where she likes to lay and use incense alot on my Altar and now she lays on the pet Altar all the time and plays with the other things on it that way she is happy and so am I.
I also leave her treats over there that way she knows it is ok to lay on the Pet Alter.
