I have a Client/Friend who is suffering from very painful diabetic neuropathy. Well, we're not sure what kind of neuropathy, the doctors can't seem to figure it out. I have used Reiki and light massage on her. She also takes lots of pain medication. Has anyone come across this painful condition?
i have read a lot of Your post on fibro, i wanted to thank You on them as i was just told after 10 yrs that i have fibro and my doc wants to started me on meds to see if it will help with the pain. i also have mental illness so i have to be very careful with what i can and can't take.
Hey Lisa,
You may do really, really well on Gabapentin or on any of the other FMS meds, but it will be a trial and error type of thing that you'll have to deal with. If it were me, honestly, I'd try Gabapentin. It's been used in the past for a number of psyhc issues, and at very high doses it will help with not only nerve pain, but with psych issues as well--you may do extremely well on it. Why don't you ask your doctors what they think and if it might be an option? It can also be added on many psych meds and not affect them terribly by interacting with them. You would of course need to check each med and the interaction (a great source is drugdigest.org!) if you decide to try it, but it's a GREAT source.
In the meantime, you are in my thoughts, and if you'd like to talk, please know I'm here!
Hugs and BB,
jen :)
Thank You so much for Your words of encouragement ... the wave of healing helped alot last night was able to sleep most of the night.
Jen i will talk to my doc next fri as i have an appointment with Him to go over my new blood work and my sleep study that He wanted to check on. My mental doc checked all my meds with lrycia and found no problems with any of them i will check on the other one so that i am ready for the 29th. Until then i am doing the best i can with the pain and resting if the pain get too much. i have a loving family who understand when i am having a bad time and needs to lay down and rest.
Gabapentin is a very close cousin of Lyrica, so if you're on Lyrica, there may be no need for Gabapentin, but if you don't get enough relief with Lyrica, they may want to add something. Gabapentin would be good to add in addition to Lyrica, as it has a great additive effect. Just so that you are aware of that.
