I have a massive list of contact allergies, among which are bee's wax. I have heard that I can use petroleum jelly as a substitute (and I have no sensitivity to this). However, I have also heard that it is not as easily absorbed into the skin as beeswax. Does anyone have any alternatives?

There's a product called Oliwax, it's derived from Olive Oil, and can be used as a thickening agent more viscous products like salve. :) I hope this helps you out!

That sounds perfect. I've been using a lot of olive oil products as substitutes already.
Have you tried Crisco shortening? It works better that vasoline. In the olden days Lard was used by most people today we use vegetable shortening.
The problem with crisco is that I also have a soy allergy. Crisco is essentially soy lard. But for people who don't have this allergy, It's probably a good alternative.
You can use Soy wax, carnuba, candellila waxes. These are plant based waxes.

We make soap and stuff and have been thinking about making some totally Vegan products (currently we use Beeswax in our lip balms and salve).

I have the same problem with soy wax as I do with crisco, I'm alergic to all legums. But I'll have to try carnuba and candellia. Do you know what plants they are derived from?
Carnuba Wax is from palm and candellia is from a Candelilla shrub native to northern Mexico and the southwestern United States
Palm oil is another one of my freak allergies. But Candelilla sounds perfect. I've started a group called Hypoallergenic Witches. I'm going to repost your advice there, with credit if that's alright with you.
Sure... When the group gets approved I will join it..
your expertise would be welcome
Thanks!!
