I have already tried Black Cohosh and other "natural" stuff form the health store, Red Clover...and nothing has really helped me for the terrible hot flushes...so then the Dr. prescribed a medication which worked, however it made me suffer the terrible Migranes that I have from time to time with nausea and vomiting...now they are trying some clonidine / catapress which is for elevated blood pressure, so that leaves me sitting back and almost falling asleep..then I tried the patch and it wont stay on sometimes because the flushes are so bad that patches fall off, which normally stay on for a week..........Please, does anybody know some other things I can try?

Kornelia,
I had great success with tea made from Passion Fruit Leafs and Hibiscus Flowers and think you should give it a try.
Never pour boiling water over herbs, use hot water and let it steep for 5-10min.

Thanks, that sounds like I have to go and find some of those suggestions, but I live in Texas and here it is hard to find things...did you mix those two or used them separate? Where those loose tried and grinded herbs?
The hibiscus flower you should be able to buy as tea in any supermarket and the passion fruit leafs you should get s tea in wellness shops.
I live in the Caribbean and have a large herb garden so it is easy for me to fill any of those remedies.
Good luck
Thank you Baguanamey! I'm going to give this a try too! Blessings my friend!
I had terrible Hot flashes too, from being on Tamoxifen. My Oncologist and I tried many herbal remedies. Rice bran oil seemed to help for a while. It seems hard to find though. I tried the clonidine patch too. What finally worked is Neurontin (Gabapentin). Herbals did seem to take the edge off. But when your have 30+ a day and sweating buckets it's just not enough. If you can not find natural relief. I'd ask about Neurontin.
greetings ladies. u may want to try drinking a glass of soymilk every day. it works amazing and many gals I know have used it with wonderful results. I like the plain, but they also sell vanilla and chocolate. good luck and blessed be.
Thank you jezebel!
I know I would like to try that especially since I'm lactose intollerant. Finding the flavored soymilk is hard in a small county like mine; but I'm going to definately look!
Many thanks again!
Blessings!
Merry Meet again, I heard of something new, it is called Amberen and is online, my sister in law got it and recommented it to me, since it is herbal also. So I gave it a try and yes it works most of the time, every now and then a hotflush came through, but most of the time it was under control, and it made me feel good...any comments on this or is anybody else familiar with it...
Oh My Dear Lady Kornelia!
My sympothies are with you during this time in life. I, too, am going through much of it; started almost 8 years ago, gee you'd think it would be done by now. But, I did use the liquid Black Cohosh abstract with the trick of doubling the dosage and keeping it under my tongue for at least 30 seconds so it would hit the blood system quicker. I used it in the past when I was getting the hot flashes; then they stopped for about 3 years and have just recently started back in a-g-a-i-n! Arghhhhhhh! I know the frustration you are going through. I'm trying the black cohosh again, but so far it's not working as well as before. I wake up in the middle of the night with sweat just pouring off of me....I don't get it; it's not a very easy thing to go through. So, just remember you're not alone at this time and I too will be checking in to see different herbal remedies since I do not want any medications from my doctor, and he is well aware of that. A friend of mine told me to start eating pomogranite so I'm trying that too....the fresh fruit not the juice; so we'll see.
All my true understandings with this and many bright blessings to you!
Cindy
Dear Cindy, I am dealing with this since 2004 on and off just like you, and I did try prescription medicine too. Effexor did really help, besides it caused my Migranes to come at least once a week where I was so sick with vomiting and all..so I stopped. In the very beginning I tried Black Cohosh too, and it worked for about 4 wks, so that was the end of that...but you may really want to check Amberen out on www.amberen.com...good luck and keep in the loop how things are for you....Love and Light
I have very good results with Sage and Raspberry leaf tea
Sage is a good herb against abundant sweating and raspberry leaf is good to restore the hormonal balance. You can use fresh or dried leaves.

½ a teaspoon of Sage
½ a teaspoon of Raspberry leaves
Add boiling water and let is steep for 10 minutes

Drink several cups a day

I also use Lecithin capsules they work well for me against the problems caused by menopause. Lecithin is actually Soy. Soy contains isoflavones this is a natural oestrogen, and menopause is caused by our oestrogen levels dropping.

Hope this can be of some help.

Brightest Blessings
Merry meet, I have recently been added to the no estrogen list but with alot of searching I have found different herbal sites to help me out so I pass along the information whenever I can: first you have to have to make sure you are taking in more of the estrogen herbals than the nonestrogen or estrogen taker herbals - foods that help with estrogen increase; soy products, tofu, spearmint tea twice a day will help stop facial hair growth, yams, swwet potatoes, cassavas, flax seed (be careful with flax its also a colon cleanser), anise, unicorn root, sarsaparilla, sage, raspberry, fennel, black cohosh, apples, dates, plums, cherries, beets, carrots, tomatoes, olives, potatoes, cucumber, eggplant, peppers, broccoli, barley, hops, oats, rice, wheat, sunflower seeds, alfalfa, split peas, chickpeas, blackeye peas, lima beans, navy beans, garlic, parsley, clover, ginger, thyme, oregano, anything that is high in calcuim will also help the bones and heart, eggs, dairy products, estrogen rich foods can also be inflammatory, foods that inhibit estrogen; citrus fruits, berries, grapes, figs, melons, pineapples, cabbage, green beans, onions, corn, squash, millet, white rice, white flour. Mix and match make smoothies and I hope I have helped out a fellow hot flasher. Blessed be.
