just wondering...can I grow passionflower in NW Indiana (near Chicago)? I don't see it growing wild out here...also, would you all be interested in some kind of seed exchange over the winter?

How much do i gather? Only the passion flower that grows wild here. I snack on the seeds each summer and become very drowsy. Tastes great. The kids snack on them too.

how many of you gather herbs in the wild? I do, not all that I use but and many as are around each year. always raspberry and blueberry leaves, and sweet grass. this year there is a lot of evening primrose to gather. and to many others to name. this way of old brings me much joy, and close to Mother Earth.

I am using Goat's Rue Fenugreek both by their selves and with Fennel seed, Raspberry leaf, Nettles leaf, & Blessed Thistle leaf in a tincture plus drinking a tea made of Fenugreek, Borage, Hibiscus, Raspberry & Spearmint. What else can I do to increase my breast milk? I hate that I can not make enough milk for my baby and that he has to have formula.

Hey Willow, a lot of it depends on how you're going to start it. If you'll start it from seed, inside/outside, or if you'll buy it as a beginner plant already seeded/started/ready to plant and grow. If you're starting it, you want to start it inside, usually, and there are a number of accepted ways to seed, but they can be difficult to start, especially herbs. If you're getting a plant that's already started, there's a plant called East Friesland/Salvia nemorosa, common name is Hardy Sage! It looks very much like lavendar from afar, but the leaves are dark green, which is the sage you can use, from what I understand. I've never used it myself, so I can't tell you, but it's supposed to work. You can check it out for yourself by googling or talking to a nursery owner. It is supposed to be a perennial. Hope that helps! :)
