This was recently sent out on the yahoo group. But I feel it's so relevant to discuss waning moon magick more in depth so I posted it here too as a starting point.
I AM THE WANING MOON
I am the waning Moon
The Goddess who is fading from the land
In the Springtime I sought my Lord
And mated with him beneath the trees and stars
At Beltaine I wed my Lord
Beneath the first blossoms of the hawthorn tree
And in the Summertime I ripened the apples in the orchards
And the fruit grew round and strong
Like the seed within my womb
At the corn harvest I cut down my Lord
That by his death our people might be fed
And now in the Autumn time
I descend beneath the Earth
To dwell with my Lord in his dark kingdom
Until our child is born
At the Winter Solstice I will bring forth the child
And renew your hope
And at Imbolg I myself will return
To renew the land
I leave you, but I return to you
When you see my power fade
And the leaves fall from the trees
When snow obliterates like death
All trace of me upon the Earth
Then look for me in the Moon
And there in the heavens you will see the soul of me
Soaring still amongst the stars
And in the darkest time
When the Moon is covered by shadow
And there is no trace of me in Heaven or on Earth
When you look outward and your lives seem cold and dark and barren
Let not despair eat at your hearts
For when I am hidden
I am but renewing
When I am waning
I am making ready for return
Remember my promise and look within you
And there you will find the spirit of me
Awaiting those who seek
For by the well-spring of your being
I await you always
I am Diana in Heaven
And on Earth, Persephone
And within you that dark Hecate
Triple am I
The One in Three
My body the Earth
My soul the Moon
And within thy innermost self
The eternal spirit of me.
What magick is best done on a waning moon? Have you tried doing rituals this time of the month, and did they feel different? How so if you felt a difference? What is best not to do on a waning moon? What is important to remember when doing magick under a waning moon?
I found this as an older discussion and just wanted to bring it back and reply to it!
During the waning moon I usually do spells to "take away" something. As the moon slowly disappears from the sky, my spell intention is to make something disappear from my life. For instance; a bad habit, extra weight, negative feelings, etc. Then, during the waxing moon, as the moon gets bigger, I "add" the opposite of what I took away earlier in the month.
For instance during the waning moon I might do a spell to help remove my bad eating habits, the few extra pounds I put on because of the bad habits, and the negative way I may see myself because I've gained weight. Then during the waxing moon I'd do a spell to encourage good eating habits, to return to exercising, and finally to love who I see in the mirror every day!
I use the wanning moon to do magick that involves letting go of old habits and negativity. Things like burning my fears and worrries. I write them on a piece of paper, set my intent and light them from my candle. Then place them in a burning dish. When it is completly out, I take it out and throw the ashes to the universe to be used in a positive manner somewhere else.

I have noticed just recently that when I feel most like working my mojo, I check on the calendar and it is a waning moon! I think the universe is telling me that I'm attracted to the darker (waning magicks) without even knowing it! As I have always tried to make the best use of the moon phases, I try and think of how I can tailor make a work to fit around the current phase.
This isn't always easy, but I have read in many places, that should you need to do something which isn't falling in it's best phase- if the need i great- do it anyway, the universe will not penalise you for it, but it may take shape in an unfamilliar guise (you never can tell!), so as ever, you need to be careful what you wish for.
