Here is a recipe for anyone who would like to make there own clay runes.
Clay Runes
4 cups flour
1 cup salt
1 teaspoon alum (in spice section of grocery store)
1-1/2 cups of water
Food colouring (optional)
Mix all ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
If it is too dry, add a teaspoon of water, Work into dough with your hands.
If you want to colour the dough, divide into parts, and add food colouring to each section and kneed.
Roll out dough with a rolling pin on a slightly floured surface.
Cut dough into squares, rectangles, or circles.
Use a toothpick to carve the rune into the tile.
Place the rune tiles gently onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake for 30 minutes in 250 degree oven. Turn and bake another 1 ½ hours until hard and dry.
(Optional) Let cool completely. Sand lightly with fine sandpaper. Spray with clear shellac or acrylic spray.
**Now don’t forget that you can add thing to your runes, like Gems, glitter, or you can carefully press in small sticks into the clay before baking to make the runes, or use sticks to press the shape of the rune, remove the stick bake dry then glue the sticks in place.
