I would like to know what everyone's favorite homemade pagan item has been.   Mine are my pagan wears, such as my ritual gowns and cloaks.  I also make my jewelry, wands, staffs, medicine sticks and shields, paintings and art, and candles,  Ill send photos soon,  Lets hear your favorites and what made it your favorite.

Hi Raven, I made my own Runes from river rocks to replace the cheap clay ones I purchased years ago. It was hard work but I am very pleased with how they turned out and I feel I have more of a connection to them now. : )
That is how I feel about the items I have made to date. I am closer to the items and use them more protectively than those I have actually purchased. I would love to see an example of the river rock runes, if you are comfortable showing them. Thanks for your post. Blessed Be!

Sure! I would much rather make things for myself once I figure out how to do it. Do you have pictures of your things?
Merry Meet, Sister Witch!

I was wondering if you could explain the hematite thing to me. I've seen many many sites and books and people say it is "grounding," but what exactly does that mean?

Merry Meet Beyond!
Hematite is great for 'grounding'. It helps you with your thought process, clearing any negative energies that may have effected you before you perform any type of ceremony, ritual, etc. It is used for calming or cooling one off into a tranquil mood to help you focus better. It keeps you mentally and physically balanced while keeping these negative energies away from you to bring in more inner happiness. 'Grounding' is important so that you basically cleanse yourself from any residual energies that you may have from the day or anything you may have been sensative to that you may have picked up from someone else so this doesn't affect you in any negative way in your rituals, ceremonies or other activities; and even after performing magick you should ground yourself again so that any residual energies again that can be left in your body won't overwhelm you or let you pass it onto others. It's like a cleansing effect that Hematite can give you like in a simple everyday example, you're at work, you started out with a great day, then someone is miserable and somehow that person's energies rub off onto you and you automatically become upset. Through deep breathing, meditation and grounding with the assistance of Hematite, it will keep you more focused on yourself with your original energies you started your day off with hopefully giving you more inner happiness. I hope this helped some, I try to explain it as things would happen on an everyday basis and I hope you enjoy the Hematite.
Blessed Be
I just recieved as a gift from one of the Elder's of our group a Hematite ring during our Samhain Ritual and I love it!
I am new to Wicca, but I kind of just jumped into crafting. I have made several items for myself and my wiccan friends. Among these items are: scrying mirrors, lima bean runes (although I'm looking into making more out of rocks around my area), brooms, several recipes, and I am currently working on a pestole and mortar I made in ceramics yesterday. Eventually, i will make a cauldron and chalice as well, but i haven't quite built up the skill. Crafting your own items is such an uplifting thing for me. :)
Merry meet! my favorite item is a wand that I made out of a broken drumstick. A friend had given me the stick as a lark, and well, just to show what I could do, I took my dremmel and fashioned it into a wand complete with a shaped handle to fit my grip. I used a dremmel instead of carving it by hand because the stick was hickory, and hickory is a very hard wood, but it turned out very nicely and works very well. plus it goes with my lifestyle philosophy of reduce, recycle, reuse.
I also have a pendulum board that I made out of a piece of reclaimed pecan that was headed for the landfill before my son in law brought it to my husband for his scrollsaw. Looks very nice, wormholes and all.
Merry Meet, Raven!

I haven't made too much so far, but I'm in the process of making my own wand a runes. And so far, I'm liking my wand best. I found the perfect piece of driftwood a few weeks ago, and it was already smooth. When I realized that it was already the perfect length (from my elbow to the tip of my middle finger, as most people concur) I knew it was perfect for me. I haven't finished either the runes or my wand yet, but I can't wait to see how they turn out!

Merry Meet Everyone!

Oh I do so many crafts, it's hard to pick out my favorite. I would have to say making my own staffs and wands is my favorite. We have many apple, willow, oak, maple and elm trees here that I love picking up the dropped branches that can be in so many different shapes and making them into staffs first, then if long enough having a somewhat matching wand. I just started this year using the branches for bessoms too. I've been using straw for the sweeping part of the bessom's and did make one with dried shredded corn husks. I love making masks too! For Samhain this year I made my first formal mask and it came out better then I thought it would.
Along with all this I'm an avid wreath, candle, runes, jewelry and many other 'item' maker. (Oh a Dremel tool can be a woman's best friend) I also love trash to treasure so to me there is never any 'trash' yet my dear hubby states 'you have 900,000 things started and haven't finished but just a few'. Okay, he's right ... but my 'New Year Resolution' has been to finish as much as possible (quilting can take so long...) but I can't give one up; I'm addicted!
Yes, I do need to get my pics on here and am looking so forward to meeting you all hoping we can all become great friends and share our 'magickal talents' together!
Blessed Be!
I am wanting to make my own runes. I have some nice size sticks that I thought could be sliced at an angle and the burn the symbols into the slices. Where can I get the rune symbols? Thanks, Mab
I have to say mine are the floating altars I make. SOOOOOOOOOOO much fun.
