Yule Gift Ideas

Greetings everyone!

I found the cutest little glass bowls for $1 over the weekend! Very festive with a snowflake design on them. I bought enough for all of my co-workers and am now stuck trying to figure out what to put in them! They are not very big, maybe about 1 1/2 cups big. I've thought about making some cookies large enough to fit in the bowls and then just stacking them...but have not been able to come up with anything else! And there always seems to be a ton of cookies at my office this time of year.

Anyone have any different ideas?

How about an ornament of some kind? Something shiny. Perhaps it would be a good time to share the story of the Christmas Spider, who came one Christmas Eve to decorate the trees with her glistening web(s)? (That's a loose translation of the story, by the way!) Spider ornaments are easily made with any sized styrofoam (or other earth-friendly materials), wires, shiny beads, pipe cleaners, and/or any combination of materials. You could make them just the right size to fit into your glass bowls.

Have you thought about making divinity? Divinity is a traditional winter-time treat, & smaller than cookies, so you can fit more in. Plus that, you can also mix it up with both chocolate & vanilla flavors!

I like the vanilla and chocolate idea...strangely enough, not everyone likes chocolate and this would give two options. Something to consider!

you can make a finishing salt. 1 cup of sea salt mixed with 1 tablespoon of orange zest (excellent with fish). Or 1 cup of sea salt mixed with smokey paprika. You can put these salts in little plastic baggies and place in the bowl, put clear wrap up and around it a secure with a ribbon (like a gift basket).

Love that idea, Ariel! An assortment of salts....and that would work well with the size of the bowls too!

Popourri is another great idea...Thanks Heidi! I've even got some holiday scented oil I could use to infuse some smell into it. I do have a couple of men to give these to...but I could use a more masculine smelling oil for those! Thank you again for your idea!

Of course not...be my guest! I think it would be fun to gather the items for it...pine needles, maybe some flower petals, even dried orange peel, or lemon... so many choices!!
