Then choose the one that I want to work on right now, and file the others away for next time. Then I usually dive in with writing the first Chapter or two, but to stay organized it would be a good idea to write out your character sketches and some details about your setting before you begin the story. Also, if your book requires any research, get that out of the way before you get into your story line so you don't interrupt yourself once the fun begins.

Determining plot, main characters, scenes, situations and settings. There are a great many good writing books out there, one magazine that comes to mind is Writer's Digest. You can check them out online, they always have good advice for the beginning writer. What ever you choose to do, don't give up. Good luck and Blessed Be.
Personally, I tend to start out with my idea and outline. When I outline, I put as much detail into it as I can. People who have seen one of my outlines are shocked, as they look more like rough drafts than outlines most of the time. From the outline, I go to my first draft, fleshing out all the details I put into the outline. Then it's edits and revisions from there to the final draft.
I hope this helps!
Blessed Be,

Permalink Reply by Freyas Kitten on February 1, 2012 at 1:38pm I just write, the story is always in my head trying to get out. Unfortunately, sometimes I don't work on it for months. But I just sit down and start writing. I don't worry too much about where I am in the story because invariably I decide to go back and flesh out the sotry somemore when I reach a certain point. Like I am in a place in the story and realize my reader has no background on this character and I want them to. So I go back in time and add that character in to the story. It may not be the right way to write a novel but it seems to be working for me.

Permalink Reply by serina on February 10, 2012 at 12:09am I like to start with an idea. When you're sitting in front of the TV, have a pen and paper nearby. If you get an idea, write it down. I was watching the TV show "Being Human" the other night, and an idea popped into my maid. What would happen if a vampire drained the blood of a werewolf, while it was in human form??
Then I name my vampire, and wolf, and give them a time period, and a place to live. From there, what kind of dwelling does each of them live in? Then I create a biography for each of them. Then what were the circumstances under which they met. Do they become friends after the bite or enemy's?? I hope that helps to get you going. If not, drop me a mail. I'm also hotwitch2@yahoo good luck. let me know how it turns out
Permalink Reply by Leigh Boyett on April 7, 2012 at 11:10pm Honestly, what I do is just let an idea come to me and write on what comes to mind. Sometimes I end up automatic writing from a spirit, or from my own subconscious. And when the thought comes, I write my feelings or what I think a character does. And with you having a co-author, might help to do something like that. I tend to write pages and pages worth, but then get stuck until I get that subconscious connection again to finish.
