Comment by Robin Winterberg on March 3, 2012 at 10:12pm It is my understanding in short that
A Hedgewitch or Hedgerider in older forms of German (turning to older forms of English) would translate into a witch who could travel between this world and the world of spirt to heal and so on.
I think of it this way a hedge or line of trees can define your property a natural fence ,a boundary between your space and the next .
It was true for the home I grew up in built by settlers from Europe. And I noticed this to be true in many places in the UK and Germany .I am sure this is seen in many other places as well. So a hedgerider can walk and cross the boundary
Comment by Joey Hummingbird on February 3, 2012 at 10:02pm Thank you all for your comments. I am also looking into and defining what hedgewitch means for me. I posted in a blog the definition that is in Wikipeadia as a starting point. I think what draws me to this idea of hedgewitch is the solitary aspect as well as the idea of shamanistic practices that are also associated with it. Part of the reason that I started this discussion was to look at my own thoughts about hedgewitchery and explore it more fully.
Comment by mytearoses--dawn on January 25, 2012 at 4:22pm according to what I have looked up and read.....a hedgewitch is like a regular witch but does pay alot of attetion to the plant aspect and a very nature based path. preferably a solitairy with. Thats my opinion on hedgewitchery.
