I just came home from a very important meeting, closed the curtains (because the neighbors already think I'm weird enough), and I proceeded to do an embarrassingly sexy victory dance in the living room, while singing zipadeedoodah.
After being on the waiting list for a year, today I got my greedy hands on an allotment! For you lot on the other side of the pond, an allotment is a Victory garden.
Eighty-one square meters of pure delight, with a water source within spitting distance, south southwest orientation, out of the wind and with a light, rich, sandy soil... It also has an old fruit cage on it.... not because the raspberry bushes growing in it are so wild that they need to be caged, but because the thieving birds need to be kept out...
So, this weekend I'm gonna have a blast leafing through seed catalogs and salivating over pretty pictures of heirloom fruit and veg.... I'm gonna also have to think up a name for it.... perhaps Hortus Minor... or Hortus Plenus....
here's a picture of it... It doesn't look much at the moment, but it will when I'm done with it...

Permalink Reply by mytearoses--dawn on February 1, 2012 at 2:42pm Congrats on the garden......I was reading in a magazine on how ppl would take long branches and tie them together and make decorative branches and tomatoe cages and all that earthy stuff out of them. It looks great in the pictures. I am blessed enuf to have friends and family members to give me their plants so they stay in the family. I have everything recorded as to who it came from and where its planted and all. I have to watch out for deer. I kind of live in the country. lol Hey...any body have any ideas as to how to get rid of moles? I was told to put a windmill up and the vibrations in the ground would keep them away. Yes Im goona try it. But I will take ideas. bb all
