I want to start making tintures myself and have been for a while, what kind of alcohol do I need to use?

and do you have any recipes?

I use Vodka for mine.

Hi Aja. I am also interested in making tinctures. Scott Cunningham recommends Everclear if you can get it. The higher the grain alcohol content, the better.

a shop near me sells gin made of grain spirit - would that do or are there too many aromatics in it already?

I just started some tintures, my first ones which are almost ready were made with 80 proof vodka, and my newist ones are made with 190 proof grain alcohol.
