familiars?

merry meet :)

soooo.....before I get to my question, here is some background. My live in boyfriend and I already had two cats, which is all we are allowed by the lease. We had some snow about a month ago, and he went to clean my car off for me before I left for work (he's sweet like that). there was a big orange cat underneath my car. He expected the cat to run away, but instead when he finished, the kitty followed him up 3 flights of stairs and into our apartment (with no prompting). I bonded as soon as I saw him, and the kitty has made me "his" person. He is always hanging out under my altar table, and I keep pulling the queen of rods card when I do my tarot readings...which in my deck has a kitty on it that looks just like him.

so the question is,

1. Do real life wiccans have animal familiars or is that just in storybooks?

2. If it does happen, and an animal has chosen or been called to you....what do you do about it?

anybody know?

Yes, SOME real life Wiccans DO keep familiars. Sometimes these animal DO chose or can be called to you....what you do about it is that you FIND the means to accomodate the animal. This could mean possibly even mean choosing between animals that you have already, or a move. This is not an easy thing, but if you feel that this cat is sent for a purpose. You will have to make the difficult choice.

Yes, there are times when familiars come into your life. My current dog is a familiar. He's the only one I've had thus far, and I always have a dog in my life.

so further progress on this...I think he is amenable lol. Everytime I do a ritual, he comes and hangs out in my circle, and sometimes when I come home after a hard day, he greets me at the door, and then runs straight to my ritual room and sits by the altar like "you need to tap in mommy" lol. One of the other cats has also started joining us now. He and this other kitty act like a little married couple now. they are always together, and they both come into my altar room now whenever I do a ritual. The third cat in the house loves to snuggle, but couldn't care less about the spiritual stuff.
