Hi all, Popi Oso here...    just jooined this group... been in WS for about 8 years... I am starting a biz venture with runes, having the saws and the laser etcher to make a standardized tile set, case and bag...   and no this ain't my first rodeo.

To start, we are thinking elder futhark and  younger futhark.  But I am curious if anyone is actually using any of the other versions.   (scandanavian, norwegian,  etc)  From my studies I see like 40 different versions and usually at least an additional 8-12 varients in any single given stave type.

totosolus @  yahoo.com   is my email, so you can reply direct or here...

now for the really whack "questions" to the group.

Assuming a finished size of approx one inch by 3//4 inch by 3/16th inch  tumbled to moderate finish ...  In a  small  pouch - or possibly a small wooden case with pouch...   got a price point you feel would be reasonable?

Eventually i want to offer sets with an option of being able to hang the stones on a neckalce. I have a couple designs where that would prove feasible.  And  ultimately i want to offer custom sets in semi-precious stones.  At least a few kinds,  probably not ever diamond, but I'd want emerald if i could dream that far.

In any case... the other question is coloring.  Laser etching just cuts off the surface, and I was wondering about cooring.  I Know I can, black or red or green or whatever... but my internal struggle is the product used... I sure aint' gonna use my own blood to make others sets, I will not kill life to work magick, and yet i am ambivalent at best about using a silicon alkyd or other synthetic.   Everything is sacred to the sacred... but... some folks would pinch gold brick at the idea of using an oil based toxic coating.

 thoughts? suggestions??

 Love and light

i have a set that is viking. i got it for 23.00. it sounds like a great business when you get started. i know you will do well. let me know when you get started
I have seen a basic clay set for as low as $19.99 with a real cruddy book. For semiprecious stones, I have seen them quite expensive, depending on the stones. I have the stones I want to put runes on, but it would be an endeavor for me to get that done as I don't have all the fancy doodads that would make the job a bit easier. Would you offer the work if someone was to give you the medium to which to work with? Just wondering.
michelle..
if I understand your reply, your asking if you supply the stones, if I will get them inscribed... and that is yes, when we get the things going. I got a virus in my system and its locking up my corel draw.... and virus protection and system restore... and Grrr...
but, the idea is not beyond reason... - at least in theory. theory being currently frogged by not having access to the system.
but ... give me time... by spring I will have working sets and the system worked out... or be insane....er.

Thanks for the reply. I am in the process of moving right now so I totally understand your time issues as I have some of my own. I should be in Missouri within the next month, so it may take me a bit to get situated too. Just give me a holler when you have things set up.

hail popi my name is jordan my sugestion is send some litature explaining how to cast them themselves and as for the pretious stone idea, i have yet to see a set of runes done in all there relation stones, such as Fehu relation stone is green tourmealine and so on.  Keep up the awsome work

Hello,

Sorry I had not replied to you sooner. Bee really busy. I personaly never use synthetic dies or anything toxic. I think this takes alot out of the power of the runes. All my runes i have ever made have been all hand cut and carved. I am just one of those the belive that by using high tech stuf, ya it may be easier to make but in the teachings it is the labor that gives the power to items. Thats just me,, lol I have made about 100+ sets in all over the past year or so. Ranginf from Elk, Deer, Antilope and Goat horns. I have used Ask, Birch, Oak, and some pine limbs. I do have a bunch of Sand stone rocks that i have thought about carving into but have never got the motivation to hand carve any rock as of yet,, lol Got small hands and kinda clumbsy when it comes to stones,, lol

I have sold my sets from anywhere from $50 to $650. all depending on the intracity and detail of the runes and the type of material and case they wanted.

Hope that helped at all.
