Second Life is a very popular "Virtual World" and WitchSchool
International has an exciting new HQ in it!
To get started, however, you need to do a few things.
#1 Your Computer.
Unfortunately, you need a "pretty good" computer (and a high-speed
connection) to be able to run Second Life. Most notably, it won't
run on a Celeron (or earlier) processor.
HERE is the page that tells you specifically what you
need.
#2 An Avatar.
Again, this is fairly simple ... you go to
http://secondlife.com
and click on "get started". This will take you to a page where
you'll pick your "basic" Avatar (out of six male and six female
"starter" looks), and give it a name (you select a first name and
it gives you a list of last names to choose from, playing around
with variations on the first name will frequently give you quite a
range of different last name possibilities). You then fill in the
rest of the form to set up your free account, confirm your e-mail
address, etc.
#3 The Second Life Program.
The next step will let you download the Second Life program ...

At this point you'll be ready to start exploring Second Life.
When you first go "in-world" try to make sure you'll have a half
hour to an hour or so to give it, as the first place you go is a
"training area" that shows you how to customize your Avatar, move
around, manipulate objects, etc. This is VERY USEFUL and well
structured. Also, when you get done with it, there will be a "free
store" area that is only available to new Avatars, so you'll want
to go grab a lot of stuff there (from eyes to houses, t-shirts to
cars!) for your "inventory".

FINDING WSI IN SL
First of all go join the "WSI in SL" group
HERE ... this is where we'll be putting up all the
scheduling info and announcements for the Second Life HQ (as
opposed to an SL "Group") ... you can always get info there and ask
questions, so it's a handy thing to be in!
