What you are experiencing is a very common occurrence in newly developed psychics and nothing to fear.

Firstly, you must accept that there are no demons - this is a Christian concept and they don't exist. What is out there is what you are however is what you are describing - they are just low level or low vibration spirits who are trying to mess with your mind. I call them Jokers. They often impersonate someone you know on the Other Side as well, but when you start to ask them questions they don't know the right answers - that's how you know.

Secondly, they, like other spirits are always around, so you have to cast a sphere of protection around yourself to set your own boundaries - it is the same as they circle you cast when doing ritual or spells, but when casting, you say that it must only allow in those spirits you want in there and then you name them - such as your guide, deceased grandpa and so on. You can also say that you only let in spirits who are there to help you and who has positive energy and good intentions.

That's all really! Try it and let me know. What is also important is to realize that they cannot hurt you or take over your mind - you are in charge of the situation and once you tell them so, they will stay away. You can do this in addition to the barrier (sphere) around yourself for better protection.
