All threw history most of the riches Buddhist literature

consists of stories that reveal the process of enlightenment

most are indirect. These tales leave the heart like that of words unspoken,

  yet very powerful with thought.

Im sure at one point or another we all know someone who took their life,

is it wrong , is it selfish, so it was that a man who wished to commit sucide

  just happened to speak with a monk , and he asked him weather he thought , he had the right to commit this hanis act ? the monk thought for a moment and replied " anyone has the right to do what they please ", But, " everyone else has the right to resist it ". The young man thought , saying; " Do you see sucide as a moral act " ?

  And the monk answered saying, " Where their is no victim, every act is morally right, but I personally think ,that sucide is a symptom of taking ones self

to serious".

  Ok another short tale :

Now one day their was a young monk and he was very unhappy

and he flung himself down in the snow , whaling and crying out for help.

Now seeing his distress another monk lay down beside him in the snow and he to began thrashing about and whaling , and the young man seeing this 

got up and left .

Get it ?

Ok one more tale to tell you :

Now their was a rich man and he came to the monk and he asked if he would write something to insure the continued prosperity of the family. 

So it was that he agreed , this is what he wrote :

" Father dies, Son dies ,Grandson dies ".  Now upon reading this, this angered

the rich man. " I asked you to write something for the happiness and asure prosperity of the family , why? do you make such a joke of this " ? 

The monk answered his saying ;

If your son dies you would grieve greatly, if your grandson dies before your son

both of you would be brokenhearted , if your family generation after generation

passes away in the order I have written , it would be the natural course of things

and I call this real Prosperity. 

Do you think he was right ?

So it is today that I leave you with this thought:

" By one's self evil is done,by one's self, one is purified.

The pure and the impure stand and fall by them selves

  No one can purify another , work with diligence 

Be lamps unto your selves , Betake yourself

to no external refuge , Look not to refuge to anyone

besides the self , Hold fast to the TRUTH

as to the lamp".
